nope. 

as has been said numerous times, it is not only possible, but it is
incredibly easy to implement.

if you want to see just how simple it is to do it, launch safari and
type:
 comgooglemaps://?0,0
into the address bar, then hit return and it will do what you say
cannot be done. 

putting that functionality into an app is ridiculously simple, and as
others have shown, does in fact exist in apps, despite your beliefs to
the contrary.

there's no need. you supply them yourself with abundance and regularity.

again, not necessarily.

since there is a way for a link to open a *different* maps app (or even
nothing at all, another detail you are ignoring), it is *not* correct.

it *usually* opens apple's maps app, but it is not a certainty.
