#145755 — Moving apps to other virtual desktops in Catalina

Until now, I've always grabbed the title bar of a window with the mouse, then
held command and pressed the left or right arrow to move the window to the
next or previous desktop.

This doesn't seem to work in Catalina, unless I'm missing an option to turn it
on? I don't remember ever turning it on before but then, that would have been
a decade ago...

That's how I've always done it, works fine here. 

If a reboot doesn't fix it (sounds like the sort of nonsense Windowserver
would do until reset) then go to your preferred desktop, right-click on the
Dock icon of whatever, Options/This Desktop. Doesn't help if you want eg a
Finder window in each desktop though.

If it's well broken, BetterTouchTool has 'send to desktop' hotkeys/whatever,
action is "Navigating Spaces/Desktops".

For some reason it works with CTRL not Command on the MacBook Pro 13.

Which is a pain, because there's no right control key so I can't do it with
one hand. But there is a right command key.

Baffling this has changed.

Wish I could. A new brain would be ideal, this one is past its best.

Your problem can be fixed more simply - skip BetterTouchTool (although that is
a fabulous utility that I wouldn't be without) and go to System Prefs,
Keyboard, Shortcuts, Mission Control, and redefine "move left a space" and
"move right a space" to cmd-arrows instead of ctrl-arrows.

Did you change the key shortcuts (sys prefs -> Keyboard -> Shorcuts)?

control-arrow are the defaults
command-arrow is generally used to move to beginning/end of line in text editors. Except in MS apps, of course.

I have now, but across all my Macs previous to this one, I've always had
command-arrow not ctrl-arrow set to this - and I've never changed it myself
that has just been the default.
