If you do end up needing the wider breadth of everything that the Mac can
handle, you'll be coming back to Arm based Macs which'll run your entire iPad
workflow, too - very handy.

I've found iPads stay viable right up until they break - I've got an iPad3
still in service as the recipes and music streaming machine in the kitchen,
being stuck on ios9 doesn't matter.

How are you aiming to get data onto them, do you have an old Mac/PC in the
house to bring the pics down from CC? You can get little boxes that take an SD
card and automatically copy the contents into a folder on a hard drive, but
they seem to all be integrated devices rather than bring your own HDD.
Or does iPadOS and Files support external HDDs well enough to do it directly?
