Hello,
I have a project involving photosensors/photo-receptors which requires experimentation.
Can anyone help please.

sure, do you have any more definition of what the experiment should be ?

you can hook up a silicon photo sensor to a meter,
a small analog dial type that measures 100 microamps or 500 millivolt
scale

the idea would be to before hand determine what the characteric curve is
of the photo sensor, try to measure it with photo diode, then make
measurements in various situations, analyse the data.

two parts, (it is hard to measure the amount of light hitting the
sensor, but the charastiic curve is almost uniform, so...)

Ok i will tell, the project/experiment is regarding a virtual button.

Sure, but the help you get depends on the information you provide on your problem.

What color(s) of light do you need to detect? How bright is it? How long does the light last; is it a brief pulse, several pulses, constant, or what? Is there background light of the same or other color that must be filtered or otherwise accounted for?

What sort of output do you need; current or voltage proportional to the intensity? Do you need time resolution? How accurate must it be?

Do you have any experience building circuits?

  And the most important question-

  What's your budget?

Heh! All problems can be solved if you have enough money. Hey, if you
got the cash just hire me. My stuff always works.

Why would you want cash when according to you it is worthless?

Actually I'd do the work pro bono, the cash is just symbolic of older
archaic times when people still paid their debts.

Luckily, until people catch on, I can still trade those worthless pieces
of paper for actual wealth. Thus, so long as I'm willing to be as
dishonest as everyone else it works out.

instead of cash, how about photo diodes ?
I'll pay you at a rate of 5 BPW34 an hour, sound OK ?

Actually, nobody pays much of anything in cash anymore.

Actual wealth such as bars of metal?

I don't know why you are stuck on bars of metal. Is that part of your
atheist religion or something? Wealth is actually material physical
objects that other humans value for various reasons. Money that is
fantasy and the "word" of thos who promise to deliver wealth later is
only worth the reliability of that promise. Have you already forgotten
the promise of silver certificates for all debts public and private?
Gosh the politicians lied to us! I'd have NEVER expected THAT to happen!
Would you?

You are the one thet brought up Federal Reserve Notes and the fact that
they can no longer be exchange for metal, not me.

I would rate the reliability of TD Ameritrade as well as other main
stream brokarge houses and banks as being very high.

So what?

Again, what in the world would I want with silver?

No, the politicians did not lie. The government changed the system to be
in accordance with modern society.

The only countries in the 21st Century with any interest in metal backed
money are a small number that also have Sharia law.

You said it Hanson. You never know when in hard times you might need to
burn that big bundle of cash to keep from freezing.

> There are also example that during long term calamites

Which shows that metal is more valuable to humans than paper.

Survival isn't just about a stash of cans of corn. Lenin teaches us that
one man with a gun can control 100 without them. Vote Hillary.

Oddly though, some people still think money is the key. Jews for
example. You are a double secret Jew, hanson, and my grandmother told me
of your kind. One day out of the blue she says to me (I'm a little kid
at the time) "Do you know what Jews say?" Me, "No?" Her, "Get the
money!" Say no more.

Po' folks improvise with what's available. Often you can do as well as professionals with big budget do if you're only trying to do one thing. The setup you wind up using may not look very professional but results are what count.

Sometimes people get the idea that "big science" can't be replicated by the little guy. Some things you can't, or shouldn't even if you can, build in your garage, but you might be surprised what *can* be done by a dedicated amateur.

Damn, but I miss Scientific American's Amateur Scientist column.

  No.

The problem is better addressed here so more people can learn from it. Also, others can correct any mistakes *I* may make.
