Flat?
They’re either flat or elliptical- ya gotta pick ONE.

In the article it says when you take the gas and dust away the arms are at the central FLAT disc. But don’t bother reading it- ur comprehension is poor

Wrong. Elliptical galaxies are ellipsoids. It's easy to have a flat
ellipsoid, it has one axis quite a bit smaller than the other two. Think
of a pancake, or M&M or Skittles candy.

A flat ellipsoid.

Oh, just think. If you have an oval pancake shape you can have a flat
ellipsoid whose large face is an ellipse, just like those spiral
galaxies that annoy you!! Cool, huh?

So what have you proven, Michael?
The word ‘disc’ is an approximation.
You just argue for arguments sake, just like Odd.
They have found that most- if not all- galaxies have a DISCOID of spiral arms at their centres and RESEMBLE SPIRALS.

Anyway, those spiral arms have 1 axial spin and 2 rotational spin making a disc and 3 the disc precesses.

All the experiments have been done. This has already been proven. A fellow was wondering why after so many years the error bars for astronomical objects hadn’t been decreasing, and were in some cases increasing. He divided them into galactic and extragalactic sources and found a difference. Analysis of the difference showed that it could be explained if the disc were rotating at right-angles to itself. He rejected this RIGHT answer, unfortunately

And wham! Here we go! Your repressed OCD comes roaring back to life and it

precessing spinny thing galaxy.

No, John, that voices in your head are not proof of anything, other than
you have some sort of OCD, or delusions.

For "proof" you are going to need all kinds of explanations of violations
of the laws of physics, such as where is that enormous torque going to
come from, conservation of angular momentum, as well as how can something
that doesn't even rotate as a unit get retarded and precess in a 1:2 spin
ratio?

Why won't you see a doctor about your precessing spinny thing OCD?

The rotation and precession are acquired at the same time: it doesn’t get rotating fast first and then get precessed.
Everything has rotation AND precession values that are locked into each other. If something is rotating quickly with zero precession, it is in a standing wave of 1 rotation : 0 precession.
If something starts rotating and precessing at 1:2, it will be in a standing wave of 1:2 and will remain so, barring large energy input.

The inner galaxy core rotates as one. The arms around it are its stars in orbit...

This does not happen. The law of conservation of angular momentum forbids
it. Rotation and precession are not alike. One is maintained by angular
momentum conservation. The other CANNOT be maintained without external
torque. The reasons why this distinction occurs is in first year physics.

You can’t just say it just happens without saying the conservation law is
all wrong.

>department, Michael. You ask useless questions

Nope. Huge difference. Once you get something rotating, it will continue
to rotate with the same rate forever, barring friction/external forces,
and as long as something (gravity) holds it together.
Angular momentum is a conserved quantity.

On the other hand, retarded precession requires a continuous EXTERNAL
torque which is constantly changing the angular momentum. Again, angular
momentum is a conserved quantity but is constantly changing now, so it
has to come from/go SOMEWHERE. Where? And how? You have no answer for
that, and otherwise it violates conservation of angular momentum.
And energy.

Plus your retarded precession solves NOTHING. Other than the demand for
your OCD to be fed. No open questions of physics answered, no nothing.
Rotation, yes, it plus gravity keeps galaxies together without collapsing
into a black hole or something. Precession: Nada.

And, you avoided the question of how can something that doesn't even
rotate at a fixed constant rate. like a galaxy, possibly precess in a 1:2
ratio, when the inner parts completes more revolutions than the outer
parts during the same time? That's because you can't answer that!
Every single star in the galaxy orbits INDEPENDENLY.

What is the rotation rate of a hurricane in revolutions per hour?
There is no answer because the inner part (just outside the eye) has
the fastest winds and the shortest distance to complete one revolution,
while the outer parts have slower winds and have much further to go
for one revolution. Spiral galaxies are much the same.

Gotta have torque to have precession. Without a explanation of where the
torque comes from, you don’t have an explanation of GRCs.

Oops, there's that poor reading comprehension again. It does NOT say those
flat elliptical galaxies are spiral galaxies. They said they RESEMBLE
spiral galaxies by being disks.

Of course, over time, standing rotational waves may appear and the flat
ellipticals may evolve into spiral galaxies.

>Is that somehow threatening to you two?

Of course not. It seems the opposite was threatening to you, as your OCD
demanded that all galaxies become retarded precessing spinny things.
Now that there are more disks than previously known, your OCD must be
much happier.

John your reading comprehension skills are terrible. There are no arms in
elliptical galaxies. There are in barred and spiral galaxies. That’s the
classification scheme BY DEFINITION.
http://www.astro.cornell.edu/academics/courses/astro201/galaxies/tunfrk.htm

If you see a galaxy with spiral arms then it is BY DEFINITION not an
elliptical galaxy.

Flat like a spiral galaxy does not mean armed like a spiral galaxy. Learn
some basics!!
