"A new batch of 5,000 emails among scientists central to the assertion
that humans are causing a global warming crisis were anonymously
released to the public yesterday, igniting a new firestorm of
controversy nearly two years to the day after similar emails ignited the
Climategate scandal.

Three themes are emerging from the newly released emails: (1) prominent
scientists central to the global warming debate are taking measures to
conceal rather than disseminate underlying data and discussions; (2)
these scientists view global warming as a political “cause” rather than
a balanced scientific inquiry and (3) many of these scientists frankly
admit to each other that much of the science is weak and dependent on
deliberate manipulation of facts and data."

not bullshit, it is in the emails Mann sent out, Ever wonder why
nobody has orgional data sets of global worming? Mann says they are
copyright, and refuses to let others see it.

Regarding scientific transparency, a defining characteristic of science
is the open sharing of scientific data, theories and procedures so that
independent parties, and especially skeptics of a particular theory or
hypothesis, can replicate and validate asserted experiments or
observations. Emails between Climategate scientists, however, show a
concerted effort to hide rather than disseminate underlying evidence and
procedures.

“I’ve been told that IPCC is above national FOI [Freedom of Information]
Acts. One way to cover yourself and all those working in AR5 would be to
delete all emails at the end of the process,”writes Phil Jones, a
scientist working with the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate Change (IPCC), in a newly released email to Mann.

“Any work we have done in the past is done on the back of the research
grants we get – and has to be well hidden,” Jones writes in another
newly released email. “I’ve discussed this with the main funder (U.S.
Dept of Energy) in the past and they are happy about not releasing the
original station data.”

The original Climategate emails contained similar evidence of destroying
information and data that the public would naturally assume would be
available according to freedom of information principles. “Mike, can you
delete any emails you may have had with Keith [Briffa] re AR4 [UN
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 4th Assessment]?” Jones wrote
to Penn State University scientist Michael Mann in an email released in
Climategate 1.0. “Keith will do likewise. ... We will be getting Caspar
[Ammann] to do likewise. I see that CA [the Climate Audit Web site]
claim they discovered the 1945 problem in the Nature paper!!”

The new emails also reveal the scientists’ attempts to politicize the
debate and advance predetermined outcomes, coordinated by Mann.

“The trick may be to decide on the main message and use that to guid[e]
what’s included and what is left out” of IPCC reports, writes Jonathan
Overpeck, coordinating lead author for the IPCC’s most recent climate
assessment.

“I gave up on [Georgia Institute of Technology climate professor] Judith
Curry a while ago. I don’t know what she thinks she’s doing, but its not
helping the cause,” wrote Mann in another newly released email.

who cares about them, do you work for them?

I continue;

We’re Here to Help

Aiding his honor were two friend-of-the-court briefs, one of which was
led by Viscount Monckton of Brenchley, Willie Soon, David Legates, Yours
Truly, and others. The other was from scientists William Happer, Steven
E. Koonin, and Richard S. Lindzen.

Happer and the others provided a lovely summary.

    1. The climate is always changing; changes like those of the past
half-century are common in the geologic record, driven by powerful
natural phenomena

    2. Human influences on the climate are a small (1%) perturbation to
natural energy flows

    3. It is not possible to tell how much of the modest recent warming
can be ascribed to human influences

    4. There have been no detrimental changes observed in the most
salient climate variables and today’s projections of future changes are
highly uncertain

Interested readers can explore the reasoning behind this four simple and
true points at their leisure. Share them with every concerned citizen.

Apparently, California’s idea that the oil companies secreted away
formulas for cooler, or maybe it was warmer, weather did not persuade
Judge Alsup. A reporter who was in the judicial classroom tweeted “Judge
slams California cities lawyers says they misled the court – says
document they claim ‘shows conspiracy’ shows nothing of the sort
#climatechange tutorial.” Other attendees agreed.

You're playing back their hogwash like a good little propagandist. If
they're not paying you, please contact Charles and David Koch and ask
for your $25 million grant. You can buy a lot of fried chicken and
pizza widdat. Maybe even buy a faculty chair at the University of Utah
so you can move out yer mom's basement.

I've never been a fascist dictator bent on destroying a government by,
for, and of the people in favor of corporatism. I don't even weigh 239
pounds, nor do I have a pendulous abdomen and a fat ass. And I paid my
mortgage, pay my taxes and don't create hundreds of blocker companies to
hide my money laundering and tax avoidance operations.

so, you say you are not Hillary....

dont need hunderds, only one, called a "Foundation",
it hides your money, ask Bill + Hillary, Obama, or Nancy Pelosie, or
Chuck Schumer, John Kerry, almost all the democrats have one, because
they are RICH.

and they 'thank you' for your attention to help them get them richer, or
at least their "Foundations".

seriously, a foundation is an opaque legal entity,
you cannot see the books, or find out who did what
money laundering is OK as in the Clinton's Foundation
a foundation is a tax avoidance structure.

You say that as if the Repugs don't have plenty of their own. Heritage
Foundation, anyone?

The party of Pelosi is trapped in identity politics

What they can't escape is identity politics—the slicing and dicing of
the electorate by race, sex, orientation, gender identity, country of
origin, dietary preference, what have you. Meanwhile President Trump has
run off with the most saleable of the Democrats' old issues and the
foundations of their coalition. You'd think they'd notice.

Instead the Democrats are too paralyzed by disgust with Trump to care.
They are too in love with their newly created self-image as the vehicle
of the Resistance, too possessed by the codes and nostrums of the
literary theory courses they took as undergraduates, too beholden to the
ludicrous iconography of Hillary Clinton as feminist martyr.

Clinton is undoubtedly one of the worst major party nominees in the
history of the United States, a public figure whose tin ear, ineptitude,
defensiveness, corruption, and privilege cost her not one but two
presidential contests.

Her dogged and egregious self-fashioning into a "protector of women" has
again and again been exposed as false, from her days laughing off her
defense of a child rapist, to her decades-long role in demeaning and
undermining her husband's victims, to her "reassignment" of a spiritual
adviser credibly accused of sexual misconduct during the 2008 campaign.

Days later, a bizarre clip of Clinton thanking "activist bitches
supporting bitches" went viral on Twitter. Then she appeared on the
telecast of the Grammys, reading a portion of Fire and Fury. The
audience whooped and cheered as if they were in Philadelphia two summers
ago.

No one in the crowd seems to have wondered why this two-time loser,
whose approval rating is at an all-time low, feels driven to remain a
semi-constant presence in public life.

Nor has her handling of press relations improved. Hours before President
Trump began his State of the Union address, Clinton released a clumsy,
cynical, lengthy, self-serving, and dodgy explanation of why she allowed
Reverend Harasser to keep his job nine years ago. "If I had it to do
again, I wouldn't," Clinton wrote, in a typically confusing and
mealy-mouthed non-apology apology that went out of its way to attack the
New York Times for having the temerity to report on her critically.
(Remind you of anyone?) Of course, the reason for Clinton's inaction is
the same for all of her missteps. She didn't think she'd be caught.

You all know journalists and columnists are not my favorite people,
especially when pontificating on science of which they know nothing and
refuse to find out something from someone who knows so they can make a
"good story". And usually the same goes for politics. Yes journalists DO
understand politics even though their screed generally is all spun to
please their bosses. So it's rare when a journalist employs their
political insight and writes like it is. Yet, it does happen.

Perhaps because it makes you and your fellow-travelers froth so?

*snicker*
