And given that water absorbs at different frequencies than it emits, do you think you can grasp *why* the infrared atmospheric window exists in the first place, LunkHead? Might it be because the water that comprises the glacier *and* the clouds doesn't absorb in the spectrum that it emits, thereby allowing that radiation to go straight out to space unimpeded? Might it be that water is a wideband absorber, but a very narrow-band emitter due to the dimer bond-shifted and OH bond-shifted emission spectrum, which falls outside the absorption spectrum of water?
