Odd
The post above says that there
was no calibration of LIGO that
can justify the result.
People (real physicists; you SAY that
you are not) have looked.

Still a believer?

John, the information in that post is in conflict with some of the

What?
You're going to not bother to look up information, but in the ABSENCE of
information, you're just going to ASSUME something is true?

What does this make you, John?

Odd
I have no credentials.
You have no credentials.
Real physicists (you're not one)
say there's a calibration issue.
You say there isn't.
I believe the real physicists.

There appears to be a DISPUTE among real physicists about this.
You have read (a little) about ONE SIDE of that dispute without
bothering to read (at all) about the other side.

Me too. But I've read both sides.

And this is the disease that courses through your brain like a malarial
swoon, John. You read so little, and the little you read, you choose
ONLY the sensational, supermarket tabloid, conspiracy-theory-feeding
side of things. It doesn't matter whether it's 9/11 or UFOs or mental
spoonbending or cold fusion or WHATEVER, when there is 1% of scientists
going up against the 99% of scientists, you ONLY care about what the 1%
says and you don't bother even looking at what the 99% say. Why this is,
I'm not sure. What I am sure of is that you cannot tell whether that 1%
is telling the truth, or inventing a fraud, or have been deluded by a
fraud. But you apparently DON'T CARE.

John, if reading BOTH sides of a controversy, including both the 1% and
the 99%, is herd mentality, then I can live with it. If avoiding herd
mentality means ONLY reading the position of the 1%, this sounds like a
sucky approach to me.

If asking myself how I would be able to tell whether the 1% is telling
the truth, or is promulgating a fraud, or is deluded by a fraud, is a
herd mentality, then I can live with that too. If you don't care about
how to tell, this sounds like a sucky approach to me too.

You cast aspersions on my generally going with the herd. I cast
aspersions on your generally being an unquestioning fringe-lover, just
because you admire the fringe dwellers and would like to belong to that
group.

Odd

Matter magically "warps" Space just by
being there.
No mechanism- magic.
But galaxies don't behave accordingly.
So DM is inferred: it magically "warps" Space,
also, but it is made from "something
different", and is also INVISIBLE!!

Space has no structure, but it has properties.
It is neither here nor there but it can wave.

You believe that!
Wow

Not magic.

Not sure what your expectation is for a "mechanism". You mean solid
matter thingies touching solid matter thingies?

So here's a puzzle for you, John. Two magnets placed in vacuum will
exert torques so that the N and S poles get close to each other. Now,
you can either say that this happens "magically", dismissing any
explanation from classical physics how this happens; or you can say,
maybe it's not magic but it doesn't happen according to a "mechanism"
the way John thinks of a mechanism; or you can say, "I believe it does
happen by a mechanism of solid matter thingies touching solid matter
thingies, and here's exactly my idea how this works...."

> But galaxies don't behave accordingly.

Well, it's not visible with light because it doesn't interact with
light, but invisible is different than undetectable. Chlorine gas is
invisible, but it's detectable. Dark matter is invisible, but it's
certainly thought to be detectable.

Yup. Freaks you out, I know.

I don't know what "neither here nor there" is supposed to mean, so I
assume it's froth. But wave, yes.

What is your mechanism for
how gravity "warps" the Space that you
says has no structure to begin with,

You'll never say, because it must happen

John, we've had this discussion before, and I've given you a couple of
really good reading references for books that are actually more than 2
pages long. When I've done this for you (at your request), you have
stated that you believe that explanations should be no more than a few
paragraphs in ordinary, colloquial language.

Such a petulant demand is both childish and irrational.

If you want to learn what the mechanism is, especially since you are the
one ASKING ABOUT IT, then you will pick up one of those books and READ
IT. If you don't really care what the mechanism is and are certainly not
interested in reading a book about the mechanism, then WHY THE FUCK do
you keep asking for it?

This is Big Brother BS. There is no mechanism and John is correct. It's a pile of crap.

There is no mechanism because there is neither space nor time. As Immanuel Kant would put it, if space exists, where is it? And if time exists, where is it? If unicorns exist, where are they?

There exist only particles, their properties and their interactions. Everything else is either voodoo crap or abstract.

Sorry, but what you've stated is that YOU PERSONALLY DON'T ACCEPT the
mechanism, not that there is no mechanism. Two completely different things.

I'll tell you what magic is. Magic is when every explanation you would
accept for a surprise gets ruled out. Since you do not accept any other
explanation, the only alternative is magic. This is what magicians do
for a living. He surprises you, you develop some explanations in your
head for how that happened, and then the magician shows you that those
explanations are ruled out. So you're left with magic and mystery. Of
course, it's not REALLY magic and mystery. There's a perfectly sensible
explanation for what happened. But some IDIOTS out there will insist
that explanation is not acceptable and reject it, and they are left with
magic.

Why do you think existence is tied to particular location in time in space?

That's YOUR preconceived list of acceptable explanations, and you simply
don't listen to any explanation that doesn't resolve to this. That's
what's called pig-headed.
And of course, there are lots of things that are magical to you as a result.

This is precisely my point. If everything that exists must exist at a particular point in time and space, where is space? And where is time? If they exist, at what point in time and space to they exist?

Infinite self-referential regress is a festering sore, a direct symptom of the Einsteinian cancer that has invaded the field of physics. It's criminal.

The suppositive clause is false. It is simply not true, nor is it
believed by scientists that everything MUST exist at a particular point
in time and space. Moreover, this has been true since decades prior to
Einstein's birth.

So not only do you have to catch up a little with 19th century physics,
but you should review history a little.

Total BS. GR not only claims that bodies exist in spacetime, they can curve it as well. Of course, nobody bothered to tell those crackpots and con artists that spacetime is a block universe in which nothing happens. Not everybody is fooled. Big Brother crappy physics is alive and well but not for long.

You have obviously not recalled 19th century physics, including fields,
which do not exist at a particular place or time. Nor has 19th century
physics limited its domain and its explanations to particles, their
properties, and their interactions. See for example, the energy stored
in a field, a measurement AND calculation done decades before Einstein
was born.

You are MISTAKEN about it being a block universe, and it would be lovely
if you might just CONSIDER the possibility that you have mislearned
something. Or is that possibility of fallibility something that just
does not apply to you?

You are either a deluded fool or a con artist. I have come to realize that Einsteinian physics is a way for the oppressed Jews of Europe to raise a hero for themselves. It's a defense mechanism. They should do like Moses and place more faith in their God Yahweh instead. Einstein will not save them. They spend so much energy defending a powerless ghost. What a waste.
