So your problem isn't that the theories are wrong (you don't have any experimental evidence that says they're wrong), you just think they're doing the wrong things. You want physicists to become applied, not fundamental researchers. You want them to care less about how the universe works and to pay attention to building useful things. You want physicists to stop being interested in quarks and more interested in solar power, less interested in black holes and more interested in curing disease, less interested in the origin of the universe and more interested in recycling. So here's the thing. Just because these are the most important things TO YOU does not mean that everyone on the planet should be working to solve THOSE PARTICULAR PROBLEMS, John. There is still the need for musicians and farmers and lawyers and housepainters and cab drivers, and their objectives might not all line up with saving the world. Furthermore, John -- and this gets to YOU personally -- YOU aren't even interested in focusing on saving the world. What the FUCK does a galaxy model for the atom do for getting rid of floating garbage in the Pacific. What the FUCK does your banging on LeSage gravity do for solving dependence on fossil fuels? What the HOLY FUCK does your love for fractals, fractals everywhere do for curing cancer? So, you intellectually dishonest twat, before you condemn physicists for trying to learn how the universe works rather than averting world crises, why don't you do the same yourself first? > Instead, you believe > everything that's fed to you by > the Money Barons that are turning > Earth into Toxic Sludge. And so what do the Money Barons have to do with physicists? Why aren't you blaming the Money Barons, rather than the physicists? > We should have been off Oil in > 1905. You sir, are retarded. john <johnsefton288@gmail.com> writes: >Michael- you'll die before you see reason Reason? I love reason! I love the scientific method, which is an awesome application of reason and logic. From a theory, come up with a test which produces different outcomes if the theory is true or if the theory is false. Then PERFORM THE EXPERIMENT and see if the theory is supported or refuted. That's reason! Also, the application of models to theories to see if they can work at all. This is what Odd does when he references proof that LeSage gravitation cannot work on charged objects. If you had reason, you'd look up what Odd posted about, apply it to your ideas and if he's right, you'd discard your ideas with "oops, I was wrong!". Scientists do this all the time. They come up with an idea, find a flaw in it and "oops, I was wrong!" the idea is dead. That's reason.

Michael Bullshit. You reject new ideas out-of-hand while holding on to the present scientific beliefs. Gravity was falsified when galactic rotation curves were uncovered. No amount of bullshit DE, DM or whatever can explain those or why star speeds are asymmetrical, or why galactic discs are warped. You'll die before you see reason

Odd Yes- it was proof that gravity theory is wrong. Since then, Odd, how much money has been spent on the DM idea? If DM pulls on the stars, what keeps it separate? It's hogwash, fudge, bullshit, and so is your theory. Retards

On 3/7/2016 1:56 PM, john wrote: > Odd > Yes- it was proof that gravity theory is wrong. John, no it wasn't. Please read up on it. When you have a theory that says, "Given these inputs and conditions, you should expect to see the following behaviors", and there is a mismatch between the observed behaviors and the prediction, then there are ALWAYS two possibilities: 1. The inputs and conditions are well known, and the theory is wrong. 2. The theory is right, and the inputs and conditions are not well known. This isn't just true of relativity. It was true for Newtonian mechanics, when projectiles didn't land where they were predicted to land. That's not because Newtonian mechanics was wrong, but because they didn't include all the inputs like the Coriolis effect, the Malus effect, air resistance, and so on. > > Since then, Odd, how much money has > been spent on the DM idea? Not a lot, actually. Theorists are cheap. Astronomical observatories exist and are multipurpose. No, it hasn't. As Odd points out _either_ GR is wrong or the matter distribution is wrong. Since DM isn't really all that exotic (have you found a 6 year old to explain "invisible heavy stuff" to you yet?), DM is more believable at the moment. But science is open to either possibility. >No amount of bullshit DE, DM or >whatever can explain those or why >star speeds are asymmetrical, The distribution of "invisible heavy stuff" certainly can. Michael's kindergarten explanation for why our gravity theory doesn't add up: INVISIBLE HEAVY STUFF!!! THAT'S our "Science" for you! Retarded, or what?

Anything that doesn't interact electromagnetically is invisible. Neutrinos are also invisible. What problem to you have with that? Do you think non-electromagnetically interacting stuff is bullshit? Yes, it's a "kindergarten level" explanation, dumbed down to the point of being nearly retarded. I had to dumb down the discussion of "dark matter" to your level, so that perhaps you could understand it. Otherwise you think it's something super-exotic and thus impossible. Do I have to dumb it down even more for you? Perhaps "invisible" has too many syllables for you? BTW, we already know of one form of dark matter. They're called "neutrinos". They don't interact electromagnetically at all so they are very invisible. They're very lightweight but there is a shitload of them so they're a little bit "heavy stuff".[1] But for several reasons, particularly because they like to move at nearly c rather than hang around in clumps, they cannot explain the dark matter we see in galactic rotation curves. [1] (I haven't seen anyone's estimate of the percentage of the universe that exists as neutrinos)

Alfven completely alleviated the need for EinsteinmaniA, which is the ideal that gravity is a primary force; plasma is almost all of Universe, so ... see Eric lerneR's bOOk, _the bing bang ne'er happenned (paperback; he was student of Alfven's at u.c.s.d > No, it hasn't. As Odd points out _either_ GR is wrong or the matter > distribution is wrong. Since DM isn't really all that exotic (have you > found a 6 year old to explain "invisible heavy stuff" to you yet?), DM > is more believable at the moment.
