as nobody knows.

Similarly as nobody knows,
when the mountainside of the Cumbre Vieja ridge at La Palma
at Canary islands is going to slide to the ocean.

When it does, it will make a supertsunami
that will be hundreds meters high,
racing to splash Eastern US coast.

Similarly as nobody knows
for a particular atomic kernel of Radium 226,
if it decays today or after 3000 years.

Most researchers consider this unlikely.  Previous collapses have
been in multiple smaller stages.

So the statement "Yellowstone is ready to blow" is sort of meaningless. 
Is anything that might happen between now and a few hundred thousand 
years from now "ready" to happen in your estimation?

I am not the one who used it, I just responded.

A gun is ready to fire a bullet,
if loaded by ammo, primed, and protection is OFF.

But when or even if it happens is unclear.
Being ready to event says nothing about when or if event happen.

Yes, I apologize, it was "reber g=emc^2" (or Trebert, depending) who 
made the statement that Yellowstone was "ready" to blow. At the time I 
thought it a silly statement in talking about Supervolcanoes.

Not fully silly, as it depends on interpretation.

It is ready, but just in sense that

it seems it blows repeatedly
is active below the crust
and now is about the time.

But "about the time" is broad interval
of several tens/hundreds thousands years.

There are two extreme approaches to catastrophic topics.

One says such a thing can/will never happen.
The other says it is coming very soon for sure.
Reality is somewhere between.
