If the band is narrow, it reflects most all the light and looks very silver, like a mirror, on the back side, but a small notch is missing where the light was transmitted through the filter. Some of those filters have 10 layers..

Gas laser was invented by Ali Javan (Iranian
scientist) in 1960 at Bell Labs. I wouldn't be
surprised in those days journalists mistook "Iran"
with an alien saucer.
His laser was slightly different from that of the
co-inventor Bennett's. But the type you see
everywhere, cash register scanners, etc, is exactly
Javan's invention.

BTW, the first ruby lasers used flashlamps to get enough pump light to lase. Green LEDs put out a lot more light per input electrical watt in the Cr ions' absorption band than do flashlamps. Sam is it possible that you are even MORE ignorant of physics than journalist HVAC? OR do your so-called ignorant "students" pick these bullshit articles? This article is TOTALLY and I mean TOTALLY wrong. It uses neither Maxwell theory or the more advanced Feynman theory. It's just plain garbage. Why not get an education and learn how BOTH those theories work? Ask HVAC for help. He has some kind of degree in some kind of subject from some kind of college (he says). Or you could ask Herb. He is an imperial thinker and also knows how everything works. Hint: Mirrors work with probability same as the proof of alien life in the universe.
