Good because if you don't understand death,
then you don't understand life,
and you can't function properly.

> > Gravity is residual exergy.

A PERFECTLY uniform universe has no exergy/gravity;
"work" ( force * distance ) isn't possible.

Compressing our solar system to the size of a baseball,
as it once was, long ago,
gives it less entropy and more exergy/gravity.

If entropy didn't go up, naturally,
and exergy/gravity didn't go down, naturally,
our time-scape wouldn't exist.

entropy going "up" has nothing to do with us calling the direction that gravity pulls "down". in fact, if you take note of accepted physics, gravity pulls toward the CENTER of a mass tangential to it's surface (esp. for planet-sized masses with evolved monkeys on it's surface).

No exergy, yes.

>"work" ( force * distance ) isn't possible.

Force would tend toward zero as the universe expands and everything
becomes infinitely far apart. Gravity force is inversely proportional
to the distance squared. This doesn't mean gravity is weaker, it
just means the distance increases. Meanwhile the potential energy
increases (to a limit, at infinity) just as lifting a rock increases its
gravitational potential energy.

>Compressing our solar system to the size of a baseball,
>as it once was, long ago,

Had less entropy and more exergy, yes.

>If entropy didn't go up, naturally,
>and exergy/gravity didn't go down, naturally,
>our time-scape wouldn't exist.

Again, not correct, only exergy will decrease.

Also the heat death is a statistical effect, there is no actual law of
nature that requires it, beyond statistics. It's just that when you have a
system of high energy (temperature) stuff and low temperature stuff, the
most likely effect (by far) is both sides become a uniform temperature,
possibly driving a heat engine in the process.

I haven't figured out how the fact that an expanding open universe, like
ours, having constantly increasing (toward a limit) gravitational
potential energy jibes with an eventual heat death. Perhaps it is possible
that a heat death could have potential energy that can _never_ be used as
exergy.

But my point simply is there is no connection between the statistics that
drive toward a heat death and the gravitational constant G. It is a
constant.

There's no "down" in a uniform heat bath universe;
so you can't fall down; kinetic energy isn't possible.

So ?! Big G is irrelevant in a uniform heat bath universe.

Yet there's still "stuff" separated from each other which would supply
energy if somehow they could recombine. But it can't. This is the
apparent contradiction, can there be potential energy because of gravity
in a heat-dead universe if it can never be used? All that potential energy
of stuff infinitely far apart.

General Relativity's G is a constant, of course;
no matter, "a uniform heat bath universe" has:

No curvature, No exergy, No "down".

Wikipedia says:

"The Big Freeze" is a scenario under which
continued expansion results in a universe that
  asymptotically approaches absolute zero temperature.

This scenario, in combination with the Big Rip scenario,
is currently gaining ground as the most important hypothesis.

In other words: Zero kinetic energy.

I'm just repeating myself, I don't know how you could possibly
fail to understand what I'm talking about; to wit:

Gravity is residual exergy, and it's dying off.

In "The Big Freeze" there's no kinetic energy,
much less gravitational energy. There's no "down" direction.

It's not dying off if Big G is unchanging. It will just be less relevant

The gravitational energy of our Universe is asymptotically approaching zero.

"The Big Freeze" has no kinetic energy, much less gravitational energy.
There's no "down" direction.

>The gravitational energy of our Universe is asymptotically approaching zero.

As I mentioned earlier the gravitational _energy_ of our universe is
actually increasing, as it expands and the energy of dark energy/the
motion of galaxy clusters is converted into gravitational potential
energy. This will remain true even if protons decay/black holes evaporate
since gravity acts on all energy, not just mass. This is why I mentioned
the possibility of unusable potential energy. I don't know of any
mechanism that can dissipate/use this potential energy which is in theory
could provide exergy.

The _force_ approaches zero as distance increase, but the total energy
increases to a finite limit.
