It's not so much camouflage. It's more for confusion. At high speeds the stripes act to confuse the eyes in a similar fashion that a strobe light does. It's the same general effect. As with almost all things in nature, it plays different roles and may help with identification of individuals within their herd.

No, no. You don't get it HVAC. I saw it all explained on PBS. Those libs
can "explain" ANY science. We've all seen movies where the wheels on the
stage coach seem to be moving backward when the coach is obviously going
forward. Well, it's the same with zebras. Their stripes make the lions
think they are running backward when the herd is actually running
forward! So plausible and simple. You could have
written this explanation yourself.

[This is what happens when Libs like HVAC attempt to "explain" science
to the public. Never give Libs ANY authority over policy of ANY kind.]

AFAIK, as I remember some popular science radio broadcast,
it is not a camouflage to hide them. It is to confuse predators
by dynamic patterns of the herd, making more difficult
to focus on individuals.

Something like an effect of a flock of sardine fish,
making predators impossible to focus on individual fish.
Successful predators rather attack the whole flock.

the black stripes get smaller at the temperature goes up, less heat

To see a horizon 6 miles away, you have to be 24 feet in the air.
