Its all ocean on its long west side. Its warm water that is easy to evaporate. It has Santa Ana winds that should help. Been here 9 months and less than a half inch of rain.Good thing I drink only BUD,and my refrig has lots of ice. If I move again its to live on my boat on Lake Mead. TreBert

It is odd there is not more cloud cover over LA. San Francisco is also on the coast, and they call the fog "the view"!

Not odd at all; there is often early morning clouds and fog along the
southern coast but they dissipate as the day warms up.

I forgot to mention that the Santa Ana winds are formed by high pressure
over the desert areas causing strong winds through the various mountain
passes and are east to west, i.e. blowing off shore, and that they most
usually occur in winter.

When the Santa Anas blow there isn't a cloud in the sky.

Palm trees have huge root systems and seldom come down even in extreme
Santa Ana winds with gusts of 100 MPH.

Yes, you said that already.

Yes, the roots of a palm tree are all in a ball when you buy them.

However, palm trees have huge root systems and seldom come down even
in extreme Santa Ana winds with gusts of 100 MPH.

The palm trees that thrive in Southern California are arid varieties,
which means they need very little rain to flourish and their roots
go very deep.

Digging out an established palm tree is a major endevour that requires
heavy equipment.

As a native of the cold and frozen north I am sure you are an expert
on palm trees.

Perhaps if you haven't yet been run out of the state or been arrested
for vagrancy or running a "business" without the appropriate permits
and licenses, you can attend the 70th Annual Riverside County Fair &
National Date Festival in Indio on February 12 - 21 and amaze everyone
with your knowledge of palm trees.

And just FYI, coconut palms don't grow worth a crap in California

Jim 105 F is not an average summer day in Anaheim. That's in the shade.Palm trees make no shade. We need apple, and cheery trees. Every park needs a 30 foot waterfall for kids to play under. Free boat rides.Free ice cream. I just might run again for mayor.Who knows Bert

Yes, temperatures in the low hundreds is an average summer day in
Southern California; how many summers have YOU spent there?

Neither apple nor cherry trees grow worth a crap in most of Southern
California; try olive, fig, avacado, or citrus if you want fruit.
