This is a classic example of projection, where someone blames others for his
own faults. It apparently bugs Archie subconsciously that he doesn't do very
well in physics or is considered a kook, and projection causes him to accuse
others of failure or being a kook.

As you mentioned in another thread, McGinn does that as well.
