I don't dismiss processes just because I can't make practical use of 
them. Physics theories should be consistent with each other in domains 
where they overlap. Here QED says something and classical mechanics says 
something, and I'm looking to see if they agree.

I don't understand the policy of saying that physics should only be 
looked at in situations where everyday applications are available.
