Even in the absence of the government seeking to restrain speech to 
protect its own political interest (which it *probably* can't do in 
Australia, at least theoretically), the idealistic notion of free speech 
becomes problematic once one starts to look at the details.

For example, hate speech. Is that acceptable? What about incitement to 
commit crimes? To commit terrorism?
