Its a good thing they have no leaves.Still when they fall and hit a car its junk. They are so very tall. They are called "King Palms" I think they came from Hawaii?? Yes, the roots of a palm tree are all in a ball when you buy them. However, palm trees have huge root systems and seldom come down even in extreme Santa Ana winds with gusts of 100 MPH. The palm trees that thrive in Southern California are arid varieties, which means they need very little rain to flourish and their roots go very deep. Digging out an established palm tree is a major endevour that requires heavy equipment. As a native of the cold and frozen north I am sure you are an expert on palm trees. Perhaps if you haven't yet been run out of the state or been arrested for vagrancy or running a "business" without the appropriate permits and licenses, you can attend the 70th Annual Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival in Indio on February 12 - 21 and amaze everyone with your knowledge of palm trees. And just FYI, coconut palms don't grow worth a crap in California -- Jim Pennino
