Of course, almost none of that radius actually resides on the 2D constant-elevation surface of the salt flats; the only place where it does is the point where it meets the circle. If you have rejected solid geometry a well as algebra, then you have a very limited mathematical basis. There used to be people who could visualize some of these things. For example, back in 700 B.C. the Assyrians were invading the kingdom of Judea. The Jews at Jerusalem decided to divert the water from Gihon spring to the pool of Siloam inside the city to prevent the Assyrians from having a convenient source of water when they arrived to besiege Jerusalem. So a tunnel was started from Gihon Spring toward the Pool of Siloam, and a tunnel was started from the Pool of Siloam toward Gihon spring. How did it happen that the two tunnels met? Workers digging from one direction could not see the workers digging from the other direction. I know how difficult this must seem to visualize for someone who has learned modern science, but mathematicians of that time calculated how to get the two tunnels to meet each other. Even though they were digging through sandstone, they could calculate mathematically a certain point within the solid rock. What I do is the same thing. There is not an actual plane of sheet metal or some other solid cutting through the sphere. What we have is an imaginary plane which intersects the sphere. Then where the surface of the sphere would meet the imaginary plane, there is a circle. The center of the circle is not on the surface of the sphere. It is within the solid sphere on the imaginary plane. So, as you can see, I have done something similar to what was done in constructing the tunnel. I have calculated a point within the solid sphere that is the center of a circle drawn on the surface of the sphere, just as they calculated a point in solid sandstone where two tunnels would meet. I know all mathematics of that time has been replaced by modern concepts of relativity, but I sometimes go back to things that were done when there were still people doing things.

So you see you can imagine different geometric rules for two kinds of spaces, ones with intrinsic curvature and ones without. So congrats on that! That’s important to hang onto. A GPS satellite moves in a circular orbit relative to earth. The equations for a circular orbit work just fine for a GPS satellite.

The circumference of the orbit does not change. That is incorrect. Just about ANY length is frame dependent. The fact that is still labeled C doesn’t change that fact. Labels do not dictate values. The fact that you have a favorite plane geometry formula means nothing. It’s foolish to apply a formula for an application where it doesn’t actually apply.
