Only if you can demonstrate its utility in producing results that are more accurate than Newton's. So far you haven't produced any results at all. You won't even tackle a baby simulation.

He had no idea why gravity can have action-at-distance. That wasn't his point. His work with gravity was to show it was a function of the two masses and was inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them, and this relationship formed stable orbits. Determining its cause was beyond his works. Note that you don't need to do everything to produce something valid. If I have a theory that cats will chase the dot produced by a handheld laser pointer, I don't have to know or prove how a laser actually works, just accept that lasers do work. Same with Newton, he didn't have to prove how gravity works, he just had to show that it did in a certain way, and that certain way forms stable orbits. Just a piece of the overall puzzle, but a very important one. > I provided a complete theory of gravity including the cause of gravity. So my theory is superior theory of gravity. My cat quickly got bored with a laser pointer. A squeeky mouse with flashing LEDs and feathers on the end of a short fishing rod, however, is an entirely different story! It's rather more expensive than a laser pointer. The feathers only last a few weeks before they get all torn up.

Therefore in the absence of frictional losses from OTHER sources or interactions with EXTERNAL entities, conservation of energy and conservation of angular momentum both apply. If you have a closed system of point particles (i.e. no possibility of collision), then the total energy and total angular momentum of the system NOW will equal the total energy and total angular momentum of the system a million years from now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- On the other hand, it is totally unclear to me whether your Rube Goldberg of a theory of gravitation allows conservation of angular momentum, and it seems quite clear to me that it violates conservation of energy.

This was made explicit by Einstein's General theory of relativity. > I provided a complete theory of gravity including the cause > of gravity. So my theory is superior theory of gravity. To be a better theory, you need to be able to at a minimum all the results of the theory being replaced. So please calculate the orbit of the moon based on your equation. I have asked you for this before. set up the problem and solve it. You have all the information needed: mass of earth, mass of moon, orbital speed of moon, distance of moon from earth. > > > > > > If Newton’s gravity is a single attractive force then > > > there is no mechanism to explain why the moon has a > > > stable orbit around the earth. > > > > You keep asserting that, and it is still wrong. > > Newton PROVED that is wrong. > > If you think I am wrong then provide a demonstration > that how a single force can maintain a stable orbit. It is simple orbital mechanics. here is a link for you to learn. http://www.braeunig.us/space/orbmech.htm NOTE: all of the equations use Newton's gravitational formula since his focus is on satellite orbits. > > > > > Deny all you want, gravity is a composite force as follows: > > > > No, that is only your assertion, and Newton proved that your assertion > > is wrong, hundreds of years ago. Newton’s theory is a subset > of my theory. Gee you are stupid. Now this is something you have not proven in this discussion. Please, take your theory and derive Newton's equation from it. That is what is understood as one theory being a subset of another. Einstein was able to demonstrate that Newton's law of gravity can be derived from General Relativity. If you can do the same that is one step in the direction of moving your theory beyond just assertion level. > > > > > >> So why do you keep asserting that there are two forces involved? Insults don't help your case, as I told you before. So again, I ask you, very politely, show the calculation for lunar orbit that requires your equation. Put your equation to the test, like Newton did. You have to be able to do at least what Newton did to start proving your theory. Your book is severely lacking an example for this problem. Show us how to use your equation. Even is you do not solve the entire orbit problem. Show us what each parameter in the equation means and what values need to be inserted for the earth and moon system. Just calculate the moon moving a small distance in its orbit. From point A to B how does the velocity (speed AND direction) change using your system. Please. For your own confidence, do the calculation. Ed

To Ken: That, of course, is precisely why I am making a simple orbital mechanics program available to you. Basic programming is not difficult, and all that you need to worry about is the force calculation. Currently it is set up to model a F=GMm/r^2 force radially directed between the planet and the Sun. You are free to modify that force calculation to your heart's content.

Your program assumes that gravity is a single attractive force. It is not. It is a composite force. Therefore I am not interested in your program. I am interested in the cause of gravity.

Therefore I am not interested in your program. I am interested in the cause of gravity. As I said, you are free to modify the force calculation to fit your conceptions. If you want to model a composite force, you can model a composite force. The source code is all there for you to play with. Nothing is hidden from you. I am available to give you programming language advice. I can also give you some limited advice on debugging. I am not familiar with the Safari Development Window. However, there are some things that ANY developer window needs to be able to do, like showing you syntax errors, allowing you to set breakpoints, step through code, inspect values, etc. Any model for planetary motion should be expressible in terms of a system of differential equations. Any set of differential equations should be interpretable in terms of a computer program. Computer programs are easy.

Newton's laws have EVERYTHING to do with it. Newton used his laws to PROVE that only an attractive force was necessary to maintain stable orbits. This has been pointed out to you many times, yet you've completely ignored this and kept asserting your claim. >Just the attractive force of gravity is not able the moon to maintain a >stable orbit. Assertion is not a valid argument, Ken. If you believe this, you have to show us your equations that prove this and invalidate Newton. >As you can see with just one attractive force of gravity is not able to >maintain a stable orbit. So where is your science proof that invalidates Newton's PROOF that only an attractive force is necessary? You can quit struggling with trying to find the value of (-6)/(-2) so you can work on your proof.

Another troll chiming in with nonsense. Maybe it is clearer expressed as "motion of a particle under the action of a central force" which is the title of Chapter 10 in my old college textbook: Introduction to Theoretical Mechanics by Robert A. Becker Also referred to as orbital mechanics and on larger scales celestial mechanics. Basically motion of objects is MECHANICS. HTH, ed

You can't apply a force in empty space, and the moon is floating in it, in what is known as free fall. That's why Relativity was invented. Stop spamming this group with your ignorance, you stupid bag.

No I am saying that conservation of angular momentum is valid only there is no applied force. same with conservation of energy. In our discussion there is a constant attractive gravitational force between the earth and the moon, so these concepts are not valid in our discussion.
