Why not better detecting the Microwave Radiation pollution while at it, 
microwave owns, bluetooth, wifi, wlan etc, 2.4- 5.9 GHz give or take. 
There are sensor dedicated to the task embedded already.

I have a geiger counter app for my iphone. You put black tape over the front camera then start the count. For Americium-241 it is about 20 hits a minute. Not bad for free. As to microwave , 2.5 GHz , it is too low in energy per photon to do any real damage. Microwave oven at 1000 watts at best just warms water up. 2.5 GHz WIFI , bluetooth , xbee in the 5 to 100 m watts range is zip nada zero.

There is no way selectively determine 241Am by iphone.
Aside of selectivity, there is much stronger naturally occuring
radiation from Radon 222 decay products.
