Rule Number One...disregard anything a scientist says.

Dr. Zaringhalam, who has a Ph.D. in molecular biology, hopes being a
public face for science
will help change the perception of what scientists look like—often male
and white—to that of a
young woman with immigrant parents, and ultimately help make science
more diverse, she said. She’ll be attending the march in D.C.

Part of the problem, he says, ?is that ?many people don’t interact with
scientists regularly and see researchers as “weird.” To combat those
stereotypes, he and others at Berkeley are organizing outings to
community events, like farmers markets, to talk to their neighbors in
informal settings about the work they do. He will be attending the march
in San Francisco.

"weird"???? No way!!!!

“Science is not red or blue. It’s science.” Jack, who plans to take chemistry and
engineering classes as a student at Purdue University next fall, hopes to network with other science-enthusiasts.

I wondered about that myself. What I (who am incapable of
speaking the words "President Trump" without my eyes doing a
high-velociity barrel roll) saw of the lead-up to it is that it
is pure strident political partisanship. They railed against
those who don't accept the scientific consensus on CO2/climate
change. But were there any of them with anything negative to
say about those who reject the scientific consensus on things
the "hippie contingent" differs with Science on? Like GMO food?
Nuclear power?

Since one of the sponsors of the March for "Science" is the
Union of Concerned "Scientists", I suspect not. We have the
CO2 output we do in large part due to the UCS's leading role
in omni-obstructionism of all things nuclear power. We would
likely have phased out coal in favor of nuclear decades ago
if not for them.

Those who claim that industrial civilization can survive solely
on "sunny days when the wind is blowing" energy are engaging in
Arithmetic Denial. Maybe we need to have a March for
Arithmetic.

Before going off on the "waste" issue, search for "Sedan Crater"
in Google Earth. Scan south from there. That's in the general
area of Yucca Mountain. Explain to me how the remnants of
hundreds of nuclear bomb craters, completely uncontained, is a
greater hazard than properly contained and isolated waste.
It's the very sorts of people Marching for "Science" whose
omni-obstructionism has prevented the Yucca Mountain repository
from being used for the purpose for which it was built at great
expense. Then they argue "What about the waste?" like Erik
and Lyle Menendez demanding the court's mercy because they
are orphans.

A "Mystical Scientific Schizophrenia" has Been Purposefully inculcated into the Citizenry of the United States.

The Vast Majority of Citizens believe there is an "Omnipotent All Knowing Supernatural Being" micromanaging all of Reality & Physics.

To the Masses, Science, Physics & complex systems are only valid and believed by the masses until it conflicts with their Inculcated Mystical Indoctrination.

It seems to be wasteful to use resources to attempt to STOP Changes to the environment induced by CO2 released by Human activities.

It would be better to utilize resources to PLAN FOR THE ADAPTATIONS REQUIRED BECAUSE OF THE COMING UNSTOPPABLE CHANGES TO THE ENVIRONMENT CAUSED BY ELEVATED LEVELS OF CO2 RELEASED BY HUMANS.
