Also, watch a televised NFL football game.  Look carefully when they show
the sidelines, you may see someone holding up a clear parabolic reflector
(looks like a satellite dish).  It's used so the TV networks and the coach
can hear the quarterback doing his calls, or the refs calling a foul (if
they aren't wearing a microphone).  They point the dish at whatever they
want to hear.

Works exactly the same as a microwave satellite dish, and it would work
on transmit, too.  As Odd states, megaphones and horn loudspeakers
use reflectors to guide sound in certain directions.
