“Finite” as opposed to “infinite”. Meaning that you stop your stopwatch
with which you measure the proper time it takes you to cross the event
horizon, by pushing the start/stop button of the stopwatch *as you cross the
horizon*¹ – as opposed to having to let your stopwatch run forever (when you
would measure *coordinate* time as the distant observer²).
> which is absurd. You can't stop time. Time is not a speed.
Time is a *coordinate* and a *distance* in relativity where you formulate
physics in terms of four-vectors in a 3+1-dimensional spacetime, (x⃗, t) or
(t, x⃗) – notice the arrow above the “x”, indicating a three-vector for the
position.
If you are not familiar with basic terms of relativity such as “time”,
“finite time” and “proper time”, but are subscribed to a newsgroup whose
name ends in “.relativity”, I strongly suggest you be silent and get
yourself informed about it by reading introductory material.
As for stopping, if your purpose here would be to learn, instad of to troll,
you would be well-advised to *stop* concealing your ignorance by changing
pseudonyms.

¹ This is a theoretical argument. In practice, using eyesight only,
the free-faller will have difficulty telling that they passed
the event horizon. See also <http://jila.colorado.edu/~ajsh/insidebh/>
² While the distant observer never can observe the free-faller actually
cross the event horizon (observing their coordinates change to a point
beyond the horizon) – it would take the information of this to travel
faster than c – there comes a point when the distant observer must
*assume* that the free-faller has crossed the horizon: the free-faller’s
signal is increasingly redshifted as they approach the horizon, and there
comes a point where the redshift is that large that the distant observer
can no longer measure any signal; firstly due to the limited precision of
their receiver, and finally due to the uncertainty relation, that makes
it impossible to distinguish the free-faller’s signal from static.
But it is important to note that the assumption would be wrong: even at
that coordinate time the free faller still *actually* has _not_ crossed
the horizon – they cross the horizon in *infinite* *coordinate* time in
the frame of reference of the distant observer, or IOW they *never*
*actually* *definitely* cross it as far as the distant observer, as a
mortal being, is concerned.
