The wiki article is wrong. Actual fiber optic gyros are designed assuming that equation is correct. If it were not the gyrow would not work. The speed of light in a fibre is, depending of the material of the particular fbre, c/n where n is about 1.5 or more; too much to compensate in the calibration of the device. As Aristotle pointed out, one indicator of a correct science is that technology based on it works. -- Mikko
