In Taxed and Spent's dreams. Germay has been taking in guest workers from Turkey for many decades now. Give Muslims a western job and a a western life-style and they end up looking remarkably like every other westerner. I worked with enough of them in England and the Netherlands to be able to attest to that on the basis of personal experience, but there's plenty of other evidence around.

Right wing lunatics have always had silly ideas about the evil consequences of immigration - the immigrants that excite their anxieties change with time, but the threat they pose always seems to be the same.

I agree IF you give them a job. But there are plenty of unemployed
rabble rousers, perhaps less so in Germany.

You don't give people jobs. Employers do that. If you spend money on training people, employers are frequently more interested in hiring the people who have been trained, than they would have been if they'd have had to train them themselves.

I've never noticed a superfluity of rabble rousers - unemployed or otherwise. Before you can rouse a rabble, the rabble has to be seriously unhappy about something, and can usually find somebody who can both articulate their discontent and is peeved enough, or foolhardy enough, to stick their head far enough above the parapet to do it and get noticed.

As a job descripition, "rabble-rouser" isn't popular. "Community Organser", or "career politician" is perhaps as close as you can get without running the risk of being sued. I had an interesting discussion - many years ago - with my ex-sister-in-law about a bunch of people in Australia who weren't getting the service they should have got from the local bureaucrats and needed some unobtrusive tutoring on the mechanisms for making their dissatisfaction obvious to the newspapers without leaving any room for the newspapers to depict them as rioters.

No shortage whatsoever of unemployed (and unemployable) rabble rousers in
Germany! Did you not see the vast wreckage these scumbags left behind in
Hamburg the other day? There was a veritable army of the bastards hell-
bent on destruction; the Hamburg police couldn't cope with it and had to
call on reinforcements from not only from within Germany but as far
afield as Austria! This is the future we have to look forward to thanks
to the kind of thinking espoused by the likes of Bill Sloman.

Dude, you were looking at Berlin after WWII; those captions just got pasted
on in photoshop.

The RAF does not approve of the 'scumbag' nickname. I'm sure there's a German
translation, though, that's tried and true.

The internet of course. I find it difficult to confirm though. I also read that ten years ago they went to a four day work week. Can't seem to find that either.

>"For me it is no wonder that the American school system is failing when more and more religious nonsense if taught instead of science. "

From what I am hearing that is mostly in the southern, Bible belt states. Up north they seem to teach nothing. "This Is Are Story" is a perfect example.

Schools do not belong teaching religion. Catholic schools have no problem with it, the science teacher teaches science and the religion teacher teaches religion. They get along just fine.

The difference here is that they do not use public money to do it. These people in the south want the public schools to teach that en walked with dinosaurs and the Earth is 6,000 years old. I wouldn't let you teach my kids that.

And then we got the geeral incompetence. I corresponded with a Woman who was making dinner or whatever and her teenager saw a reference to the equator on TV. She asked her Mother what the equator is. Being a teenager, her Mother thought she should already know that.

She goes down to the school and grills the science teacher. The science teacher does not know what the equator is. She goes to the principal, and the principal does not know what the equator is.

The government just keeps on throwing money at these incompetent people. How can you teach what you do not know ?

I admit that I am remiss on geography and could not find most countries on a globe or map, but people are getting way stupider than that.

You know, I am not against unions. In fact I support trade unions, the kind of union that provides training and all that. But the teacher's union is nothing but a labor union, designed to protect the incompetent. If you are found incompetent by a trade union you get thrown out. With a labor union it is different. You could kill a busload of people and they would fight for you to keep your job. There is a BIG difference.

Big business has had its attack dog on labor unions for a long time, but never attacked where they should - government workers. Look at the police union(s). Kill someone get a free vacation. And the police union, as far as I know, does not provide training and all that like the plumber's union, the electrician's union and the masonry union.

Enough.

The internet, of course. Did it ever come to your mind your source might be
incorrect?
About four day work week: I lived in Germany for 60 years, there was no
general four day work week. There once was a car maker (VW) who reduced
their work week because of not enough work. This happened only for a short
time.
You should research the credibility of your "internet" sources before
posting such nonsense.

It depends heavily on where you live in Germany. Accommodation is cheap
and plentiful in places like Berlin but less so in other large cities.
Hamburg costs more and IIRC Munich is about the most expensive city
(Bavaria being the most expensive and affluent region). You can go
cheapest in the north east of the country; there's some amazing value
there like Rostock and the district of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern more widely.

I think that means the Germans would become 10 times more productive.
Somehow people see automation as eliminating jobs. That would only be true
if there was limited demand for goods. But demand always fills in to take
up the slack as long as the benefits of automation are shared equally.
Instead of thinking of production being a universal constant, think of human
resource as the limitation and you will see automation simply makes things
cheaper so more can afford the fruits.

I don't know of anything in my life that hasn't been better than in my
parents days... in spite of the prognostications of the economists who some
decades ago were saying the limitations of natural resources would be
forcing us to live lower on the ladder than our parents.

Back *from* where? We didn't lose jobs overseas as much as we did to
automation. Many decades ago we had the same problem where the Japanese
recovered from WWII by building a new steel industry using modern processes
that made steel cheaper and better. The US steel industry chose to shut
down rather than invest and remain competitive. We didn't lose to Japan, we
lost to time and technology and we did it willingly.

I think Trump has his limitation, but I don't think he isn't smart. He
knows the jobs are there to be had. But he really understands marketing his

>"I think Trump has his limitation, but I don't think he isn't smart."

He has brains, but lacks the skill set to do the job. He probably has the brains not to invest in Solyndra. But most of his life is dealing with golf courses and hotels, shit like that. This has not well prepared him for this job. Actually I heard he was thinking of resigning. The liberals think they would love this but then they get Pence. Fucking idiots, you are better off with what you got now. All the Gays and kinksters seem to be liberals and are don Trump's throat, but don't they realize that if they get rid of him, who really doesn't have a problem with them, they get Pence who does ? Offing Trump, one way or the other does not get your beloved Hillary in. They keep bringing up impeachment, not knowing that it simply cannot be done without proper grounds.

And they ignore one of the most important things on right now. There is an apparently vetoproof bill they have that would make supporting BDS illegal and they could put you away for twenty years over it. It was number one on AIPAC's list, and they lobbied and lobbied, that means bribed. They are gong to FORCE your mutual fund to do business with Israel. They might even force you. And AIPAC has them so loaded up with money that it looks like it is vetoproof. Though Trump would probably sign it anyway. Is this the kind of government you want ? You cannot support an organization that removes itself from a regime that is in violation of over 100 UN sanctions, that is into genocide. that steals from us, spies on us and tries to implicate us in false flag operations ? You are required to do business with them ? Invest in their companies whether you want to or not ?

You think it is bad ? You do not know the half of it. And the US is buying friends on credit. Propping up the Saud regime for one, that family would hang for days out in public if the People of that country had their say. If not for US QME Israel would have been a thing of the past decades ago. We put Saddam in power, as well as the Shah of Iran, and that has really backfired making that country back into a theocracy. Not to forget the shit the US did in South America. War Is A Racket, look it up.

I want a non-interventionalist policy, but it looks like I will never get it. This is what the founders of this country professed, stay out of foreign entanglements. And as much as you might not like it, we should have picked our own cotton. Call me a racist, call me what you want, but that is the truth.
