Terrorism, is a non issue red herring. http://www.channel4.com/info/press/news/c4-survey-and-documentary-reveals-what-british-muslims-really-think 23% support the introduction of Sharia Law 32% refuse to condemn those who take part in violence against those who mock the Prophet 39% agree that “wives should always obey their husbands”. Islam is a basic threat to western values. Its just the way it is. For example, Muslims have made staggering attempts to get the UN to make it a world criminal offense to criticise Islam or Muhammad. Its just a fact that the more Muslims in a country, the more they try install their values against others. They vote for those that support their values. That is a threat to the values of others Liberals/far lefties and those like Bill, live in denial of this. -- Kevin Aylward http://www.anasoft.co.uk - SuperSpice http://www.kevinaylward.co.uk/ee/index.html

The mayor of Portland cited an incident when two men got stabbed to death for the offences of trying to protect a couple of women from an anti-Muslim tirade. Trump's idea of free speech does seem to include a fair bit of anti-Muslim rhetoric, so it doesn't take much imagination to see where the mayor of Portland is coming from. Jim Thompson and Mark L. Ferguson aren't in the habit of exercising their imaginations in that particular direction, so it's no surprise that they can't see why he might be anxious - from their point of view, right-wing nit-wits can't do anything that could worry the sane majority, because anything a right-wing nit-wit does strikes them as perfectly normal behavior. -- Bill Sloman, Sydney

Ferguson aren't in the habit of exercising their imaginations in that particular direction, so it's no surprise that they can't see why he might be anxious - from their point of >view, right-wing nit-wits can't do anything that could worry the sane majority, because anything a right-wing nit-wit does strikes them as perfectly normal behavior. If anyone finds it unsettling then they're a "snowflake" who deserved the abuse. Abuse and victim-blaming is a bullet point of codified right-wing "policy" at this point. They've said in no uncertain terms what they are. Why anyone who wasn't one would ever want to white-knight for their "free speech" after they laid cards like that on the table is definitely beyond me.

All it takes is someone with (political) power to dislike the speaker and/or the subject to take exception and send the troops. Been happening, and more often (than last week/last month/last year).

rampant on our college campuses

Trump should cut off ALL Federal funding to colleges and universities;
AND guaranteed student loans.

Jim-out-of-touch-with-reality-Thompson is the best possible argument for this idea. He spent years at MIT and graduated with a degree and a whole lot of marketable skills, and completely managed to miss the kind of education that universities are supposed to instill. Lots of people do better - most people come out of university with a slightly wider perspective - so the argument is really that that the mind-expanding environment shouldn't be wasted on monomaniac throttle-bottoms like Jim Thompson. -- Bill Sloman, Sydney
