Given what has been going on in American politics for the last decade
or so that would seem to be a pretty low bar.

There was a video on the web once, unfortunately I don't have the

In the version I've heard the scary part is that after eating the
octopus puts the remains back in the jar and closes it. They apparently
also have a habit of escaping from their tanks and going walk about.

it doesn't mean the octupus is smarter...

you people...(chemicals) don't understand what "smart" means.

Having suction cups on your finger don't make you smarter..

neither does humans having brains make them smarter...

a human brain is simply a suction cup.

Now, if you don't understand How "a human brain is simply a suction cup", then...you're not too smart.

Now, that I've never seen. Would there *be* any remains,
considering what was in the jar was a piece of fish? But if you
can provide a link to the video showing that, I'd love to see it.
What I saw was the octopus removing the lid and dropping it.

Oh, yes. They're smart.

Crabs, they leave the shell.

One experiment, they put the crab in a flask forcing it in so that it
couldn't be removed easily. The octopus got that one in one--anywhere
a crab can go the octopus can go.

One video I saw said that it's even worse than that--they'll see a
fish in another tank, go visit that tank, eat the fish, and then go
back home.

I didn't see a video, this was something I heard many years ago. And in
this story the food in the jar was a crustacean so there were remains in
the form of the carapace pieces.

Yes, in that case the octopus may well have put the shells back.
The one I saw had a piece of fish in its jar. A quick google on
"octopus opens jar" got me several videos, but none with the guy
commenting in Finnish.

By setting the replies to go to an email server that won't accept
a connection, you admit that you are a pathetic loser who can only
feel important by being a dick, and so fucking *stupid* that you
can't even do that right.

What a maroon.

Apparently you have been reading/watching science-fiction for too long,
and have lost the ability to tell fiction and reality apart.

JFTR:

My From and Reply-To addresses have been and are both working; your e-mail
will be sent to the latter if you attempt to post a follow-up to my previous
posting and your NUA supports “Followup-To: poster” (which it SHOULD,
according to RFC 5536). To be sure, I have just confirmed that by testing it.

It is not my problem if your NUA/MUA/MTA is b0rked, you are unable to use it
properly, or your MTA is on a public blacklist (e.g. because it would be a
source of spam or ignores technical network standards).

I guess your Usenet provider, easynews.com, will be more than happy to
suspend or cancel your account now. Apparently some people need to learn it
the hard way.

You really are retarded, son. You really, really are.

But you know it, and readily admit it, so that's a start! The first
step to a cure is to admit you have a problem!

But you'll always be a pathetic loser, too fat and lazy to waddle
out of Mommy's basement, and too clumsy to climb your way up the
stairs that are slippery with Cheetos dust anyway. It's just that
now, you're also my bitch.

You will now reply. You know you will. You don't want to, because
you know how *stupid* you look, but you can't stop yourself. Not
until I allow you to. You know it, I know it, eveyrone knows it. So
wallow in your shame, son. It's the only human contact you get.
