Hi, I am having problems with my HP Laserjet 1020 printer installed in Debian 9 "Stretch". I installed the drivers from: http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/ ||bash$ | wget |-O | /|foo2zjs.tar.gz http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/foo2zjs.tar.gz|/| ||bash$ | tar |-xzvf | /|foo2zjs.tar.gz |/| ||bash$ | cd /|foo2zjs |/| ||bash$ | make | ||bash$ | ./getweb 1020 | and ||bash# | make /|install |/| ||bash# | make /|install-hotplug |/| ... It worked normally for about 5 years, but suddenly started the following problem: When I print multiple pages, it prints only the first page and pulls a second blank sheet until the half of the sheet and stops. To remove the sheet I need to turn off, remove the toner cartridge and pull the sheet. Any tip about what may be the cause of this problem? Thanks, Markos

They offer their own support. Whilst you can get assistance here,
you'll probably get better support from them.

At least you can expect from HP driver to work as intended, because your printer model is supported. I didn't used it myself, but it looks promising and at least sane thing to try. And if printer still won't work normally, well I've suspected a hardware problem from the very beginning. It could be a wear on some small parts in paper feeding area and/or some sensor is triggering during printing procedure. One way to test if printer itself is working, is to print a few test pages from printer itself, without connection to a computer(or network in case of printer with NIC). As I stated before, I never used hplip myself, but it's good to know it is already in official repositories. $ rmadison -s stretch,stretch-backports hplip hplip | 3.16.11+repack0-3 | stable | source, amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, mips, mips64el, mipsel, ppc64el, s390x hplip | 3.18.12+dfsg0-2~bpo9+1 | stretch-backports | source, amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, mips, mips64el, mipsel, ppc64el, s390x I would recommend to install upstream package only if the most recent version of it is absolutely required and I highly doubt it is required in this case. But even then, personally, I'd try to build a backport from source package available from 'experimental' first, or build from a tarball and use tools, like 'checkinstall', to make a simple deb package. Those procedures are right thing to do, but it's for the users to decide if they are up for the task, because these procedures often require serious time investment and expertise. -- With kindest regards, Alexander. ⢀⣴⠾⠻⢶⣦⠀ ⣾⠁⢠⠒⠀⣿⡁ Debian - The universal operating system ⢿⡄⠘⠷⠚⠋⠀ https://www.debian.org ⠈⠳⣄⠀⠀⠀⠀

For me it was hard decision to give up the old HP 5L, but comparing to newer models everything was outstanding - power consumption, speed, maintenance .... only the capacity of the cartridge vs. price was worse ... It looks like newer models have smaller and more expensive cartridges. Does it correlate with the speed?
