The command pavucontrol returns an error message: error while loading shared libraries: libgtkmm-3.0.so-1: cannot open object file: No such file or directory. Where can I find this missing file? I checked apt-get install libgtkmm-3.0-1 The response was latest version installed. I tried apt-cache search libgtkmm-3.0.so.1 Nothing was found.

That will return that it is part of package libgtkmm-3.0-1v5. And that package replaces and conflicts libgtkmm-3.0-1. At least on Stretch, on my laptop.

Are you using debian stretch? I have only these similar filenames, and pavucontrol works fine in stretch: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgtkmm-3.0.so.1 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgtkmm-3.0.so.1.1.0 From package libgtkmm-3.0-1v5 which is a "depends" of pavucontrol. If you're on stretch, you can apt-get update, then apt-get install --reinstall libgtkmm-3.0-1v5 Good luck!

Thanks. I am trying to do this on a raspberry pi with rasbian, an debian based jessie system for arm cpu's.. I was not aware that apt-file existed. I have installed it and used it to find libgtkmm-3.0.so.1 in a directory /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/ Other raspberry pi users have not reported a problem using pavucontrol so I'll have to figure out why I have this problem. > >
