I got hit by this bug in a server running an old kernel. Found that there's a 
patch: https://lkml.org/lkml/2018/8/20/172

And found that it was already applied in a later kernel (version 4.9.130-1). 
From the changelog:
- [x86] speculation/l1tf: Fix overflow in l1tf_pfn_limit() on 32bit


 So this is already fixed in both stretch and buster.
