Since yesterday, I cannot sign or (de)crypt mails anymore in thunderbird.

I am using mail.openpgp.allow_external_gnupg set to true and my local gpg key.

Everything looks fine if I use it alone but sending a signed mail give me this in thunderbird console (crtl+shift+j):

Two days ago, I updated my debian sid (see below for list of changes) including some libgpgme.

So, most probably, something broke the thunderbird gnupg interface.

P.S. to make a simple test, I re-installed libgpgme11t64 and libgpgmepp6t64 but it did not solve the issue.

i can't reproduce your problem.

I did the following test:

I use forky (Debian - testing)

I updated to thunderbird 140.5 which is in testing since today

i wrote an test email signed and crypted - all things worked well as the 
years before (around version 78)

I use a cryptostick with my gpg key

The same way I sign this email

Do you also set openpgp.allow_external_gnupg to true ?

Errors in console mentioned GPGME.

Packages libgpgme11t64 (1.24.2-3) and libgpgmepp6t64 (1.24.2-3) are 
replaced with libgpgmepp7 (2.0.0-2) libgpgme45 (2.0.1-2,) in sid.

I guess in forky you still have previous versions.

I realized information is not clear enough.

I re-installed/downgraded python3-gpg to version 1.24.2-3 (sid upgraded 
it to 2.0.0-2).  This solves the issue.

Strange, I do not see any thunderbird dependencies to it.

I do not find any dependecy to these libs.

Would this incident have been avoided if there had been a dependency ?

I re-did tests this morning and on sid, with libgpgme45 and without 
libgpgme11t64, it does not work.
