Das ist egal, solange das bei denen noch in der Datenbank steht. :-) Ich
kenne eine Gegend in der die Telekom mitte des letzten Jahrzehnts
fleißig VDSL verkauft hat, obwohl da Querkabel fehlten es also kein vDSL
geschaltet werden konnte. Hat etwas gedauert bis das jemand bemerkt hat.

Übel für die Kunden. Ich bin von Kabelinternet alles andere als
begeistert. In meiner Frankfurter Wohnung habe ich den Kram von
Unitymedia. Was nutzen mir "50" oder gar "100 MBit" im Namen, wenn das
Netz abends nicht nur im Download einbricht, sondern auch für
ip-Telefonie (über VPN) nicht zu gebrauchen ist, und mein VPN nach Hause
schon mal ein halbe Minute einfach hängt?

Zu Hause habe ich DSL 16000, wobei etwa 11000 ankommen. Von dort aus ist
ip-Telefonie über OpenVPN (zu anderen Partnern) kein Problem.

Wo ladet ihr mit einer solchen Geschwindigkeit runter? Außerhalb von
Geschwidnigkeitstests. Ich habe es bei mehreren Unis versucht mit
Linux Distris (natürlich immer nur kurz wenige 10 MByte) und das beste
waren so 3 MByte/s. Ich würde auch mal gern mit 12 MByte/s downloaden.

Tja, das Btx-Internet-Gateway im Telekom-Intranet ist halt langsam und 
ständig überlastet. Deshalb bucht man seinen Zugang bei einem richtigen 
ISP.

Hallo,

beim Download von Linux-ISOs o.Ä. per FTP erreiche ich regelmäßig 12,5 
MB/s laut der Anzeige im midnightcommander. Die Anbindung ans Kabelnetz 
bei Unitymedia ist 120 Mbit/s.

Mit der Geschwindigkeit war ich immer recht zufrieden.

meinen Anschluß auslasten konnte. Sind immer unter 32 MBit/s gewesen.

sofern Du mehrere Unis zu unterschiedlichen Zeiten getestet hast dann 
kann man wohl davon ausgehen daß der Flaschenhals nicht bei den Unis liegt.

Langsame Downloads von ISOs fallen mir hier nur auf an den ersten Tagen 
nach dem Erscheinen neuer Distributionen.

Deutschlandweit ist u.a. ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de recht schnell ans Internet 
angebunden.

IIRC hatte ich schon mal bei den Downloadmirrorlisten von 
Linuxdistributionen Informationen über deren max. Bandbreite für 
Downloads gesehen.Beispiel:
http://mirrors.mageia.org/mirrors/ftp5.gwdg.de
"Approximated bandwidth	2Gbits"

Von dort bekomme ich aktuell (0:51 Uhr) nur 2,1 MByte/s. Obwohl ich
gerade von diversen Speedtests (T-Online, wieistmeineip, OOkla) immer
deutlich über 8 MByte/s bescheinigt kriege, und meine Fritzbox das
auch sagt.

Im Moment lade ich gerade die Knoppix von

runter. Maximum so 12,7 MB/s, wobei das schwankt, mal sind es auch nur
kurzfristig 7 MB/s. Aber meist sehe ich 12,45 MB/s.

Eher das nachts sie Serverrunde, bei fast jeder Distriebution läuft.  Zwecks
Aktualisierungen. Das kostet nun mal Bandbreite.
