Das passt, denn wir hatten teilweise recht aufwändige Systeme mit ISDN-Karte, Netzwerkkarte, Dual-Monitor, Touch-Screen und zusätzlichen Seriellen Schnittstellen. Die haben unter Vista Probleme bereitet und liefen unter XP einwandfrei. Möglich, dass das noch "Kinderkrankheiten" waren, aber da zu diesem Zeitpunkt die Downgrade-Lizenz eingeführt wurde, haben wir eben XP weiter benutzt, statt länger den Beta-Tester für Microsoft zu machen.

Übrigens nutze ich auch Linux, vermutlich intensiver als Du denkst, auch da ist nicht alles Gold, was glänzt, aber alles in allem bin ich mehr und mehr davon angetan, und es ist ziemlich geil, daß man Software, die nur als source daherkommt, einfach so schmerzarm zum Laufen kriegt. Letztens habe ich sogar ein Sprachcodec, das bei der ETSI als source liegt, ohne Verrenkungen compiliert, das hätte ich nie erwartet, daß das ohne Nacharbeiten geht. Dachte, der code ist eher nur ein krudes Beispiel, aber nix, tat auf Anhieb astrein. Linux nützt mir nur oft wenig, da es Sehr viel Software, die ich nutze, dafür schlichtweg nicht gibt. An sich bin ich da pragmatisch, immer das Werkzeug (OS) nutzen, das den Job tut. Meist ist das bei mir halt Windows. -ras -- Ralph A. Dann erinnere Dich mal, was u.A. einer der Kritikpunkte bei Vista war: Dass die UAC "nervt", weil man "unnötig" bei allen möglichen Aktionen die administrativen Rechte bestätigen muss. Also hat man in Windows 7 etliche Sache mit Auto-Elevation gebaut: diverse Tools haben jetzt einfach stillschweigend immer administrative Rechte. Ja nun, wenn es einen richtigen und einen falschen Weg gibt, wird MS natürlich den falschen wählen. The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is probably the day they start making vacuum cleaners. Aber daß man Dinge falsch machen kann, heißt ja nicht, daß das nicht auch richtig geht. Ich hab nicht den Eindruck, daß mich mein System abstumpfend häufig nach Passwörtern bzw. administrativen Rechten fragen würde. Hanno

Als das vorgestellt wurde, habe ich die Hände über dem Kopf zusammengeschlagen und mir gedacht, dass so eine Komplexität kaum in den Griff zu bekommen sein wird. Wer auch immer die Idee hatte, alles von der Runtime-Engine bis zu Programmiersprachen von Grund auf neu zu erfinden, hat wohl noch nie selber Erfahrungen mit Frameworks oder größeren Projekten gemacht. Zigtausende vorgefertigte Methoden, die man "nur zusammenklicken muss", waren eine Marketing-Entscheidung gegen Java und hatten mit technischer Vernunft nichts zu tun. Ich hatte Ende letzten Jahres etwa 3 Wochen zu tun, bis alles Win7-kompatibel war und am meisten haben da noch die neuen Icon-Formate genervt. Die Sachen sind zwar teilweise etwas eigenwillig programmiert, wenn man aber bereit ist, sich etwas einzuarbeiten, geht das alles. Anderes Beispiel wäre mein Wechsel von Eagle auf Geda - ich hatte mich geärgert, dass ein Eagle-Update fast so teuer wie die Vollversion ist und brauchte an meinem neuen Arbeitsplatz so ein Programm. Was das ausmacht habe ich gesehen, als hier von WinXP auf Win7 gewechselt wurde, da gingen einige Tausender für Lizenzen drauf.

Das stimmt, Linux wird von Hardwareherstellern ganz schlecht unterstützt. Gilt noch als Nischensystem für Freaks und hat beim Otto-Normalverbraucher einen schlechten Ruf - nicht zu Unrecht, als Desktopsystem hat sich das auch erst in den letzten 10 Jahren so richtig gemausert. Wer aber bei den heutigen Toolkits solche Sachen nicht systemunabhängig programmiert, ist nicht auf dem Stand der Dinge.

Mirwegen muß sich nix ändern, ich komme gut klar mit Windows, ich klage ja gar nicht. Und solange die Leute in Firmenumgebungen mehrheitlich Windows auf dem Rechner haben, solange wären die Hersteller blöd, was zu ändern. Eigentlich könnte man gerade solchen Kram ziemlich systemneutral programmieren, da erst die Schnittstelle zum Gerät was mit Hardware und OS zu tun hat, aber wird eben nicht gemacht. Oft täte es sogar ein (jaja, ich weiß) Java-Dingens, das ohne Mehraufwand überall liefe, wo es Java gibt. -ras -- Ralph A.
