Hallo Leute, Fuer Longterm Data Logging, ein Jahr oder mehr, moechten wir eine 64GB SD Card bzw. Micro-SD benutzen. Soll mit 9600bd beschrieben werden. Der Digital-Ingenieur probierte das mit einem 8-bit uC (ATMega). Wenn es auf der Karte voller wurde, lief das nicht mehr. Bei 10 draufgeladenenen Files von je 1GByte konnte die Schreibgeschwindigkeit von 9600bd nicht mehr gehalten werden. Ich bin Analogix und weiss nicht so genau, was dabei alles abgeht, aber das erscheint mir seltsam. Als ob ein Stausee ab einer gewissen Wassermenge kein weiteres Wasser mehr annimmt, wenn man nur einen 5l-Eimer hat und zu schnell reinkippt. Ist das normal? Das schafft mit dem ganzen FAT Handling etc. auf nem 8bit Controller nur so um die 100kbit/s. Problem 2 ist, das er nur in 512byte Blöcken rausschreibt. Das begrenzt die Schreibrate noch extremer, weil da intern vermutlich ganze riesige Blöcke von mehreren Megabyte neu geschrieben werden, auch wenn nur ein kleiner Sektor reinkommt. Sind keine unbenutzen Sektoren da, muss er erst mal einen halbleeren Block löschen, ev. darin befindliche Daten umkopieren und bevor er den Minisektor da neu reinschreiben kann, das wird der Grund für die langsamen Raten bei gefüllter Karte sein. Lässt sich umgehen, indem er nen anderen Schreibmodus wählt (klappt aber vermutlich nicht mit SPI). D.h. aber auch dass mit dem Streaming-Modus geschriebene Daten zwar in der SD- Karte ankommen, aber erst nach ein paar Stunden wirklich geschrieben werden. D.h. aber auch, das er noch ein paar mehr Buffer (für FAT und Directory) vorhaltn muss, womöglich kein Platz im ATMega... Problem 3 ist Crapware, schon mal Sandisk-Karten versucht? ARM mit echter SD-Schnittstelle und grösserem internen RAM-Puffer würde es sicherlich bringen, denk ich. M. --

Noch ne Idee, die 10Gig sind in einem Verzeichnis und die zu schreibende Datei auch? Versuch mal in ein anderes Verzeichnis zu schreiben... M. --

Die Groesse dieses Schreibverzeichnisses ist nicht vorgegeben und das koennte auch beliebig in weitere Vereichnisse unterteilt werden. Wie wird denn geschrieben: permanent über lange Zeit mit 9600 oder ist das immer nur einmal am Tag für ne Minute mit 9600? Ich hab beobachtet, das alte 32MB SD-Karten wesentlich schneller fertig sind, als grosse 2G Karten. Wirklich ein Problem der sehr viel grösseren Blöcke. Dann vielleicht lieber sehen, ob man noch alte Karten auftreibt und die so gross auswählen, das die gerade reichen (erst mal nur als quick und dirty fix). Schreibt er denn auf FAT? Er braucht da beim fortlaufenden Schreiben wenigstens 3 bis 4 Puffer mit 512 bytes im RAM, einen für das FAT lesen/schreiben, eine fürs Directory und einen für das File selber. So wäre die Chance grösser, dass das fortlaufende Schreiben überhaupt erst funktioniert. Denn nach jedem FileWrite würde er ja auch die FAT schreiben wollen, wenn er nur einen 512byte Puffer hat, würde er es immer gleich sofort machen und muss dann nach dem 512byte Schreibzyklus erst mal wieder den betreffenden FAT Sektor einlesen und rausschreiben. Ihr könnt es auch einfach erst mal ohne echtes FAT Filesystem versuchen, d.h. eine Art Image anlegen, das nur eine Datei beeinhaltet - so gross wie die gesamte SD-Karte, deren Lage kann man feststellen und man schreibt dann einfach in die festen Sektoren rein, ohne an FAT und Directory etwas zu änder. Man muss sich dann aber im File selber um ne Endekennung kümmern... Und dann "Block write" (CMD24-27, 42, 56(w)) verwenden.... Beschreibung findet sich z.B. in productmanualsdcardv2.2final.pdf M.

Aber aufgrund der Diskussionen in diesem Thread (bei denen ich einiges gelernt habe) hatte ich das als Vorschlag weitergegeben. Habe aber noch nichts gehoert, ob es besser wurde. Die FAT verwaltet Cluster, nicht Sektoren, sonst wäre FAT16 ja bereits bei 64K Sektoren (32MB) am Ende. Bei einer 32GB Karte ist dann ein Cluster mindestens 512MB (1K Sektoren) groß. Da kann man viel schreiben, bevor ein neues Cluster belegt werden muß. Die Updates der Directory Einträge können ggf. warten, solange noch Schreiboperationen (Daten) anstehen. DoDi

FAT16 geht offiziell bis 2 GB, inoffiziell bis 4 GB (64000 Cluster a 64 kBytes), wobei 64k-Cluster nicht von jeder Software unterstützt werden. Wenn das Ziel ein Datenlogger ist, und die Datei kontinuierlich geöffnet ist, sollte man die Dateigröße doch ab und an aktualisieren. Zum Beispiel bei der Allokation eines neuen Clusters. Je mehr man das optimiert, desto weiter kommt man allerdings davon weg, was Libraries so bieten. Insbesondere, wenn man die Libraries nicht mit reichlich RAM bewerfen kann. Stefan

Wir haben verschiedene Karten getestet (nachdem wir ab uns zu aus dem Feld Fehler gemeldet bekamen). Dabei haben wir dann dauerhaft geschrieben (und gelesen?). Je nach Hersteller der Karte war nach einigen Stunden bis Tagen keine Kommunikation mehr möglich, die Karte hat sich tot gestellt. Eine Neuinitialisierung brachte nichts, nur den Strom schalten brachte was. Aber dafür war die Hardware nicht ausgelegt. :-( Nur eine Industrial-Karte hat eine Woche den Test überstanden, bis wir ihn abgebrochen haben. Es ist wohl so, daß der SPI-Modus von den Herstellern nur stiefmütterlich implementiert wird, da es der Massenmarkt nicht braucht. In der Spec von Sandisc gibt es Unterschiede - manche Befehle gibt es im SPI nicht, d.h. es scheint nicht nur ein anderer physischer Layer dazwischen zu sein, die Software dahinter unterscheidet auch noch.... Er sagte nur, dass es bei voll werdender SD Card immer zaeher wurde und am Ende die 9600bd nicht mehr gehalten werden konnten. > Zu viele Fragezeichen. Die entscheidende Frage dürfte sein, über welche Zeit? Die Karten schaffen im Mittel leicht die 1kB/s. Aber wenn man in 512 Byte Blöcken schreibt schlägt irgendwann das Wear Leveling zu (weil die internen Sektorgrößen deutlich größer sind) und führt zu Latenzen. D.h. es kann dann schon vorkommen, daß für eine gewisse Zeit von der SD keine Daten angenommen werden können, weil sie mit sich selbst beschäftigt ist. Um das abzufedern, brauchts keinen ARM, sondern nur etwas RAM-Puffer, der für diese Zeit die Daten übernehmen kann. Aus dem Bauchgefühl würde ich sagen, 1-2 Sekunden Latenz-Pufferzeit zur Überbrückung sollten auch bei großen Karten reichen. Tom
