Du verwechselst die Applikationsplattform "Emacs" mit einem Texteditor.

Emacs bietet nun mal dem Nutzer, der das möchte, die Möglichkeit,
allerlei Dinge - inklusive Mail - integriert zu erledigen. Also direkt
aus dem 'M-x compile' zum Compilerfehler springen, mit 'M-x vc-annotate'
rausfinden, wer das gemacht hat, und dem direkt eine Mail schreiben.

Wer einfach nur einen Editor mit Emacs-ähnlichen Tasten, aber ohne den
Rest drumherum haben will, kann ja auch jmacs benutzen.
