See that I did not lie. That Ĵ applied to ⟨Ĵ⟩ never halts is only half 
of the point that Ĥ applied to ⟨Ĥ⟩ never halts while the simulating halt 
decider at Ĥ.qx remains in pure simulation mode.

But since the Simulating Halt Decider H does leave its simulation mode
(thus showing it wasn't pure), H^ does halt after that point, which
means it does halt, and thus is Halting.

If you don't die until you make it to the hospital, but do die there,
you are still dead.

And I have always agreed with that half.  (You are wrong about all sort
of things about it, such as the loop you once thought existed in Ĵ's
transition graph, but the basic fact is correct.)

Ĵ is to Ĥ as "Halts with line 15 commented out" is to Halts.  You've
been clear about this for ages.  Its non-halting is the fig leaf you use
to cover up the fact that the string <Ĥ> <Ĥ> represents the halting
computation of Ĥ with just <Ĥ> on the tape.

If a machine acts like a UTM for just a bit, and then changes it
behavior, then it does not act JUST like a UTM, and gives a different
answer.

That is like claiming you are immortal, at least as long as you live.

Immortality, like Pure Simulation is an absolute. Something that
actually need a Pure Simulator to be true, needs a REAL Pure simulator,
not something that acts sort of like one for awhile.

That includes things like you transform of tracing simulator to tracing
simulation. That is ONLY true for a TRUE simulator that NEVER aborts

What a silly question.  Every TM computation behaves exactly like every
other TM computation right up until the point when their behaviours
diverge.  Some pairs diverge early, some later, some never.  A UTM is
not special in this regard.

Your statement that the string ⟨Ĥ⟩ ⟨Ĥ⟩ does not represent a halting
computation is simply wrong.  You can waffle all you like about your C
code but you can't waffle about TMs.

Except that it IS a fact that will abort this simulation if we have the
H that answers non-Halting for H(H^,H^) and thus H^(H^) is Halting.

The fact that the reason it halted was that H aborted a simulition
doesn't actually change the fact that H^(H^) does Halt.

The definition of Halting doesn't care at ALL, about WHY a Computation
Halts, only if it does. DEFINITION.

Like always I use the closest conventional term that nearly fits. To err 
on the conservative side I could call it a thesis, yet that does not

Calling something a 'self-evident truth' isn't an acceptable substitute 
for an actual proof. All kinds of things which may have seemed 
'self-evident' have turned out to be either independent (e.g. Euclid's 
fifth) or false (consider all the 'self-evident truths' which Quantum 
Mechanics has overturned).

In the case of the above 'theorem' it may *seem* self-evident to you, 
and their are certainly interpretations under which it seems reasonable, 
but your own usage isn't one of them since you seem entirely incapable 
of actually committing to a referent for the word 'its'. (You really 
should stop using that word altogether in your definitions).

That would require you to actually give the premises which lead to the

For the moment let's just hypothesize that my "theorem" is true and that 
it has been agreed that int main() { P(P); } never halts unless H(P,P) 
aborts its input. Then we can conclude that the input to H(P,P) never 
halts.

definitions need to avoid the word 'its' altogether. The H *inside* int 
main() { P(P); } does not abort int main() { P(P); }. It aborts some 
*distinct* computation that it is simulating. int main() { P(P); } isn't 
even being run inside H so H cannot possibly abort it. Therefore to 
claim that the computation int main() { P(P); } never halts unless H 
aborts it is absurd. Your 'it' keeps changing referents.

I suggested this a long time ago. The halt issued by the copy of H embedded
in P is considered special. That idea was rejected.
