There is no possibility that H and the "exact copy" of H embedded in H^ can take different paths through their respective state graphs. It just that simple and, since I can't make it any simpler, if you can't see it by now, I don't think there is any hope that you ever will. But why have you changed your mind about what the correct answer is? You spent months arguing (about your secret C code) that H(H_Hat, H_Hat) == false was correct, and now that I am confirming that (for analogous TM) H does indeed reject <H^><H^> you complain that it is not so. OK, so one is real code that just gets the answer wrong, and the other an imagined TM, but are they not supposed to be analogous? -- Ben.
