1. My Safari bookmarks were not up to date where I left them (no biggie
- I don't use Safari much and only noticed because I do use it for
Netflix - the bookmark that was missing).

2. Forced re-inscription to iCloud during first boot.
    (Same on my SO's MBA).

3. All the things I set to NOT go to iCloud were clicked active
    (Same on my SO's MBA).

4. Dock icons were flying all over the screen whenever I hit the dock -
this occurred a few times but haven't seen it since last night.

On the plus side my USB 3.0 disks aren't spontaneously ejecting as much
as they were before. Still happens - just less often. (I hope I'm not
premature in saying that)...

I suspect the rush to release the fixed goto/goto bug may have left a
lot of cleanup for 10.9.3...

There wasn't any point in Apple doing a rushed release of 10.9.2, as
they could have just done a targetted security update for 10.9.1, and
stuck to the original schedule for 10.9.2 (or delayed it a week).

Based on the timing pattern of reports of rumoured developer releases in
the last few weeks, it looked like Apple was getting ready to release
10.9.2 soon anyway, so the gotofail fix probably got added to what would
have been the public release anyway.

Perhaps some of the issues you noted didn't show up in testing by Apple
or developers, or if they did, Apple had decided they weren't worth
fixing yet.

Now to get on with my backup and install...

What *is* this gotofail business?

Thanks. Mmm, that's God's punishment for using goto. I haven't used one
of those since 1978, when I stopped writing FORTRAN.

Well I lie slightly. When faced with Pascal for RSX-11 in about 1982,
which lacked the return statement, I had to put a label at the end of
the function and then goto that if I wanted an early exit.

it's not just the goto. that code is pretty bad for many reasons.

Haven't seen this yet.

That will be good if confirmed. In 10.9 and 10.9.1 I'd only observed
unexpected disk eject (both Firewire and USB 3.0) if the computer went
to sleep while an external drive was connected (and it didn't happen
every time).

A nice related fix: 10.9.2 reinstates putting Firewire drives (including
via the Thunderbolt adapter) to sleep after they are ejected. I haven't
tested yet whether they also go to sleep when idle.

It also seems that Mail has several more fixes, bringing it closer to
how it behaved in Mountain Lion.

A number of people reported problems with Safari bookmarks, so this one
definitely isn't unique to him.

On further investigation it does look like I've gained some old
bookmarks in the Bookmarks Menu, but I think it was just a change in how
the ones in the bookmarks folder were displayed. I rarely look in the
menu so I don't know whether they were already there in a previous
version.

I did back up my bookmarks before installing 10.9.2, and that copy seems
to match what I saw after installing 10.9.2.

See other replies and comments - variable mix of similar and other
issues - did you see Kevin McMurtrie's post in "10.9.2 is out, by the
way...":

QUOTE

My laptop at work booted with both the internal and external monitor

worked after login finished.

Here it happens out of the blue while doing other things.

To be clear - I should have said "disconnect", not "Eject".

I've been on with Apple support at various times over the past 5 days -
getting kicked up the ladder at each pass. I've been running "Capture
Data" for them waiting for another disconnect... so of course it's not
happening ...

Just noticed another issue - my Message app on the Mac is no longer
sync'd to my iPhone. Gotta sort that out too.

I saw something similar last weekend on a MacBook Air running 10.8.5 -
the backlight didn't come on when it started up (the battery had got
down to 0% so that might have been a factor). It came right on the next
restart. Neat trick with the bright light - I must remember that.

Also not happening for me, and in any case, Messages on the Mac isn't
"synced" to the iPhone - incoming and outgoing messages should end up on
both devices via the server, but they don't directly sync the content of
existing conversations.

I did have to login to iCloud on the 6th mac I updated, but I suspect it
had not been logged into iCloud since the LAST update.

Not here on 5 machines. Machine #6 has not been updated yet.

I can neither confirm nor deny, everything is checked as it was before.

Hrm. Never seen that.

A friend could not mount any SD cards until he rebooted (into safe mode,
possibly not relevant) and then rebooted again.

I doubt it. 10.9.2 was very close to release anyway, and was expected any
day. Might have been a few days early is all.

Happened to me on one of three machines I updated.

Got notifications about various IDs added to iMessage, too, probably
related to above.

I don't know about the other things mentioned, but I had this experience
as well. Fortunately, I caught it before too much damage was done.

1. My Safari bookmarks were just as before — no problem there.
2. I also had to sign in for iCloud again on one machine, but second
machine didn't.
3. iCloud had the same selections as before and the same items not selected.
4. No dock icon problems

Another plus for me is that my Mail.app dock icon now has the correct
number of unread messages showing; the incorrect, "frozen" number had
been a minor annoyance before.

Next time that occurs (I haven't seen it in a few years, actually, tuck
this away to run in terminal (quit Mail first)):

sqlite3 ~/Library/Mail/Envelope\ Index vacuum

It will very quickly clean out dangling crap from the Mail db hopefully
making things right with the badge counts.

That hasn't been useful since 10.5

No, the badge count issue is a bug in 10.9 and 10.9.1. Supposed to be
fixed in 10.9.2, but I haven't seen the dock since I updated.

Really? Any references to that?

Simple enough, try it (with the right path which is now
~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index

The size of the file will not change.
