How is pointing out that you knowingly posted as fact something that was
untrue...

Yet you posted this:

'o Neflix was the top grossing iOS app'
o Netflix grossed $853 million in 2018 on the iOS App Store
o Apple¢s take would have been around $256 million'

And you (implicitly) knew that the last line there was not a fact.

The article YOU CHOSE as an authority told you that the model was 30% in
the first year, but 15% after that year.

But you chose to ignore that fact.

Here is verbatim what "phonearena" said on December 28th, 2018:
 <https://www.phonearena.com/news/Netflix-no-longer-allows-new-or-rejoining-iOS-users-to-make-in-app-payments_id112304>
"If you're curious why Netflix is doing this, it is because Apple (like
Google) takes a 15% cut of subscription revenue generated in-app in the App
Store (down from 30% a couple of years ago)."

Here's verbatim what Investorplace said on August 22, 2018:
 <https://investorplace.com/2018/08/netflix-pokes-apple-tests-bypassing-app-store-subscription-payments/>
"If the company is looking for ways to cut costs, eliminating Apple┬ cut
on in-app subscriptions is a tempting target. AAPL currently takes 30% of
Netflix subscription fees for the first year, and 15% for subsequent
years."

Likewise, on August 25, 2018, here's what Fool.com said, verbatim:
 <https://www.fool.com/investing/2018/08/25/netflix-doesnt-want-to-pay-apples-app-store-tax-an.aspx>
 "Apple currently takes a 30% cut of a user's first subscription and a 15%
cut on future renewals. With Netflix ranking as the third-highest grossing
app in the App Store, the new feature could take a serious bite out of
Apple's growing services business."

And, what Techcrunch said on August 21st, 2018, verbatim:
 <https://techcrunch.com/2018/08/21/netflix-itunes-2/>
"Changing the billing to a direct format means that Netflix bypasses
giving Google and Apple a cut on those subscriptions. Currently, Apple
takes a 30 percent cut on the first year of a subscription, which goes down
to 15 percent for subsequent years."

If your facts, Alan Baker, are _different_, then simply show your cites.

HINT: Alan Baker ... is it ever possible for you to act like an adult?

Those are the facts I explained to YOU in my very first post, child:

'Whereby "caveats" you mean "facts" that you've just chosen to ignore...

...such as this:

'Note, however, that Sensor Tower’s figures are based on the App Store’s
30 percent cut of transactions. After the first year, Apple’s cut on
subscription renewals is lowered to 15 percent.'

That's not a caveat... ...that's a huge lie by omission.'

It is literally the first thing that I told you.

In fact, it's the ONLY thing I've told you in this thread, and you've
chosen to ignore it...

...over...

...and over...

...and over...

...and over...

> HINT: Alan Baker ... is it ever possible for you to act like an adult?
You mean by omitting relevant facts, like you would?

I love when you post Jolly Roger, I really do.
You can never post anything of any on-topic technical value.

*You have no technical knowledge whatsoever Jolly Roger.*
I don't have to prove anything when you post - as you prove it all.

Let's try and remain focused on the fact that you posted as "fact"
something that either you knew to be untrue—a lie...

...or were too ignorant to understand was wrong.

What's interesting is that Jolly Roger posted childish drivel.
He didn't post a _single_ iota of added technical value to this thread.
(HINT: He can't.)

Now, let's look at you, Alan Baker.
How many tidbits of added technical value did _you_ add Alan Baker?

For example, out of all your posts, how many unique "cites" did you add?
(HINT: none.)

The point is that I don't have to prove that you add no value, Alan Baker.
You do that for me.

One. That you were wrong and it is most likely because you lied.

It is of great value to others here to know that you will lie to make a
point.

And just FYI, you posted no "tidbits" of TECHNICAL value in your
original post...

...because how much Apple is or is not being paid is NOT a technical issue.

I've always said I love when you post, Jolly Roger.
That's because you have exactly the mentality of the average iOS user.
o You "think" you know something about iOS
o But you _always_ prove to be dead wrong about iOS
(It has happened so many times, that you're PERFECT as an average user!)

You have the same mentality as any teenager who pines for an Phone.
o They "think" they know what an iPhone can do,
o And yet, they know absolutely nothing about iOS.

You've been caught fabricating iOS functionality for years, Jolly Roger.
The difference with you is that you actually _believe_ your fabrications!
o Why Apple Apologists deny facts & habitually fabricate imaginary content
 <https://groups.google.com/d/msg/misc.phone.mobile.iphone/eRTC23FyVDY/fDk0k8KAAwAJ>

Hence everything you post, Jolly Roger, is interesting to me.
Everything.

*Your posts provide a perfect look into the mind of an average iOS user!*

Ah, sad little arlen holder. Trying to troll Apple users and not even
being very good at that. You didn't wiggle out of being caught, no
matter what you want to think about it. You're a mediocre excuse for a
troll and emblematic of how far Usenet has fallen.

Hey now... Don't insult Usenet like that. He's a genuine shithead troll

Simpler version: I pay for Netflix via my credit card. Don't need
Apple to be between me and Netflix. Nor does anyone else, actually.

Yup! I have always paid Netflix directly via my Amex card, never through
Apple.

Cue AppleTV. That deal made it easier for people to subcribe "in app"
since Apple TV doesn't have a browser to let you subscribe separately
and then tie the Netflix App to your subscription.

Apple already has your payment info on file so no need to enter it, same
with phone, address etc.

So for someone with only AppleTV, there was some convenience to being
able to subscribe from within the Netflix App and use your existing
Apple credentials for payment info.

I agree with you, and, surprisingly, with Savageduck & Alan Browne.

I recently gave Netflix as a Christmas gift, which we subscribed to over
the PlayStation using my credit card.

What's interesting to me is the marketing model that charges %15 of _every_
months' charges - when that 15% is so easily circumvented by the consumer.

Of course, the consumer doesn't _directly_ pay that %15, but there's no
doubt there is an indirect cost to the consumer of all the expenses Netflix
incurs.

Hence, what is super *surprising*, is that Netflix didn't do this sooner.
Also, I would be surprised if _other_ outfits don't follow suit.

The number 2 app on iOS is "Fortnite", whatever that is.
Do you see _them_ following suit?

Like I give a flying fargle. I watch Netflix via AppleTV very often and
it's all charged directly to my CC every month. For that all I had to
do was enter a password on the AppleTV.
