It really depends on whether the apps you need to use will work with
Mojave or not.

It's not a fully comprehensive list, but check at
<https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/macos-mojave-app-compatibility.2121547/>

macOS 14.1 is already in developer testing, so you might want to wait for that.

Well, I installed it last night. Download OK, install OK- except for a
2-3 minute freeze during setup at the Send Crashes To Apple page.

Continued normally after that, everything seems to be working fine. All
apps and programs running OK.

Haven't tried dark mode yet- but the dynamic sunlight change on the
desktop over the course of the day is Apple eye candy at its finest!

I'm surprised you bothered at all considering your silly initial post
about it... ; )

Night Shift? I don't think that's particularly new as I've been using it
in High Sierra.

Dynamic desktop, which is new.

Tried Dark Mode for a while and don't like it. Seems to only work for
native Apple apps and with them- some well, some not so much.

In iWork for example, it makes things worse with very high contrast
between dark borders, menus, tool bars, inspector panels, etc. and a
brilliant white data entry screen. Seasoned citizen eyes don't do well
with that!

Developers need to update their apps to work with 'Dark Mode'.

I think the "feature" has been badly misnamed. It's not designed for
making everything dark or easier for peopl's eyes, it's simply for
focussing on the content you're working on. Realisitically it's just
another gimmick that few people will bother to use or even know about.

For "seasoned" citizen eyes, you should probably be looking at the
"Accessibility" options instead.

As for the focusing dimension, I was self-employed the last 25+ years of
my work life which gives one laser-focus on the content you're working
on :-)
