How much fee space do you have on your disk? Snow Leopard need 5GB of disk to install. Snow Leoard does not have recovery partition, so this solves one coexistence issue. So, the easier solution : use Disk Utility to carve a new disk partition on your sytstem disk that is 5GB in size. Boot from the Snow Leopard CD, install it on that partition. You get a vanilla system. Create a account for yourself. Make sure the GID and UID are the same as your normal system Go into terminal, and do ls -l -n (-l as in lima) You'll see your files in home directory in this format: drwx------@ 110 501 20 3740 Jun 7 00:21 Desktop The 501 is your UID and 20 is the GID. (They are the default) So when you create new user on Snow Leopard, make sure you use same as on your current system. Once logged in, your other disks (including your more modern system disk) will be accessible and since you have same GID/UID, the files will be accessible to you. However the "home" in Snow Leopard will be a generic empty one, so you have to navigate to the other disk to find your "real" files. You can then boot eother Snow Leopard or the more modern version with special key when you power up to cause a selection of bootable disks to be presented. (or use system preferences to change your boot drive and reboot). Note: If you wish to upgrade Snow Leopard to more modern version which has recovery partitions, it gets touchy because your more recent version is already installed. You may wish to rename the existing (cuirrent) recovery partition to "chocolate". Upgrade Snow Leopard to say Yosemite, boot on your current system, delete the recovery partition created by that upgrade, and rename Chocolate back to what it was before. If you are currently on High Sierra, it has no recovery partition at the GUID partition level so you don't have to worry about it. On the other hand, if you are at High Sierra, Snow Leopard will not be able to access your sytem disk since it looks like jibberish to it (not a known file system)

Any inconsolable butthurt sleep deprived whacko could easily do the same. You wishing for something does not make it true. Right now there are too many "Prescott Computer Guy is our hero" false "advocates" and not enough programers with a clue enough to help the people with Linux gear. -- My Snoring Solution!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZNxaaKD7-c https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/comp.sys.mac.system/6m_7Z7rQ6Hg Jonas Eklundh Communication AB

That is the problem now and American instructors don't care, people from past generations are the only ones who know better than to fall for liberalism. These types of trolls get their kicks out of provoking emotional reactions to their insults, which is the very definition of a troll. Jesus does not know if there is a encumbered open source solution or not. A sucking vacuum of ideas, magnified by the reciprocal of a mere moment in a cosmological time scale, demonstrating the vast nothingness of the main character's so-called thought process. Bravo, Jonas Eklundh, you are now living rent-free inside Jesus's beady little brain. Ha! How is potential gray matter tied to love of Tar in any way going to lead to valuable newsgroup discussion? Just mindless trolling. And I am rewarding that trolling. THAT is what the "Jesus circus" is. Linux offers the least to the least. -- My Snoring Solution http://www.5z8.info/add-worm_z4r9qk_fakelogin http://www.5z8.info/myspace-of-sex_q7q7zl_instant-purchase http://tmp.gallopinginsanity.com/BilkHelp.html Jonas Eklundh Communication AB

When I click on the disk's Install Mac OS X (which has the > "No" symbol superimposed on it), I get the following messages: If you have physical install media, it's a Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) DVD. What *model* and *year* computer is this? Depending on the model, it may or may not be able to run 10.6. Knowing the model we'll know which version of macOS it came with and which versions it can run. What version macOS is *currently* running on it? > "You can't use this version of the application 'Install Mac OS X' with > this version of macOS. You have 'Install Mac OS X' 23.1.1." > > What to do? Are there some system files that I should delete? That's definitely not the verbatim message. You made some obvious typos above. Regardless, to install 10.6 on it, you'll need to insert the Install Mac OS X 10.6 DVD into the drive, then reboot while holding the C key on the keyboard to boot from the DVD. Once you've booted up, you'll need to run Disk Utility from the Utilities menu, erase the startup drive, then quit Disk Utility to get back to the installer, where you can then install 10.6 onto the startup drive. Once you have 10.6 installed, you'll have to either use the App Store to upgrade the OS or use a previously downloaded installer from the App Store. I have every release archived so I can easily just copy a file to upgrade when needed. > By the way, I do have an up-to-date Time Machine backup for the computer > whose OS I want to change. Good, because installing 10.6 on it will naturally delete all data you currently have on the drive. I would advise making another separate backup with Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper as an added precaution.
