This seems to be my month to have OS problems. I'm running 10.12.6 on an iMac that is less than one year old. I've suddenly lost the ability to launch Safari. There are three users of this computer and Safari is in the dock for all three. Clicking on its icon in the dock causes it to darken momentarily but nothin else. Opening the applications folder and double-clicking on its icon there causes the icon to "explode" (I don't know what else to call the visual action) but nothing else. I've updated everything from the Apple store and restarted, grasping at straws. Only the OS needing updating. Safari has been working just fine until today. So keep a big hunk of the money from your factory. But take a hunk and pay it forward. Elizabeth Warren (paraphrased)

Try creating a temporary brand new macOS user account and see if you can launch it while logged into that new temporary account. > I've updated everything from the Apple store and restarted, grasping at > straws. And it be handy to know what errors (if any) are displayed in the Console and/or /var/log/system.log file when you launch Safari. -- E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my ravenous SPAM filter. Wow, that's a lot of information. There are seven files name some variant of /var/log/system/log. I copied all of the information in the main one, /var/log/system/log, into a Word document where I could search and found two mentions of Safari: (1) (com.apple.Safari.CacheDeleteExtension[11601]): Extension is hanging on launch. Killing. (2) (com.apple.iBooksX.CacheDelete[11600]): Extension did not initialize in time. Those look promising, but I couldn't find any files with what look like file names above (com.apple...). Any idea what to do next? Charlie -- Nobody in this country got rich on his own. You built a factory--good. But you moved your goods on roads we all paid for. Elizabeth Warren (paraphrased) John 'The Flooder' Gohde lies that he uses GnuPG, while really he never recorded it on a real system and honesty worked with it. Some time ago I did work on and showed some Swift for the front end which is the only thing you can do when trying to avoid John 'The Flooder' Gohde's immature crap while reading with Google Groups. Sandman fabricates stories. Here is a list of names Jonas Eklundh has admitted he attributes to John 'The Flooder' Gohde "Cactus Pete", "Donald", "Donald Miller", "Horace McSwain", "Hymen", "meat", "Mike Weaver", "Modena IV Drid", "Omar Murad Asfour", "Rhino Plastee", "Soapy", "SopwithCamel", "Sunny Day", "Takuya Saitoh", "The Letter Q", "tmelmosfire", "zevon". Protected code is making fast programs slow. If John 'The Flooder' Gohde calls getting his ass kicked hard left and right by Jonas Eklundh successful 'trolling', then yeah... he is a good troll. I can not personally subscribe to that definition, I use another term. I call him a perfect knuckle-dragger. -- E-commerce Simplified http://www.5z8.info/dont-just-drizzle_y8q4ut_5waystokillwithamelon http://www.5z8.info/boobs_j0v3qo_dont-just-drizzle Jonas Eklundh Communication
