Hmm, searching for "Snow Leopard Server Purchase" at www.apple.com results in that page, so apparently the server isn't available.

To get the server version, you need to ring Apple sales (see your country's online store for the telephone number, e.g. 1-800-MY-APPLE for the US). Prior to Mavericks being released, a telephone call was required to buy Lion, but Lion and Mountain Lion are now being sold on the online store (Apple supplies a redemption code, which you can use in the App Store). http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion -- David Empson dempson@actrix.gen.nz

The sales person I got required some education. Did not recognize the terms PPC, Rosetta, or virtual machine. When I said VM, "Oh, VMWare! But that's only for Windows." Finally agreed that it is available for $19.99, but only by phone order, not online. -- Wes Groleau Why does everyone call it a “fanny pack" ? When was the last time you saw one on a fanny?

It's possible to install SL (non-server) in VirtualBox, but it's tricky. You have to convince the SL installer that VB is actually a "legitimate" target for the install (i.e. looks like Apple hardware). The Hackintosh folks know how to do that. Isaac

As is the case here - the Mangia software is used for storing recipes, and many users have apparently transistioned to MacGourmet, but it's at best a very fiddly and time-consuimg process to get the data out of Mangia and into MacGourmet, almost to the point of being better to simply re-type it all, which is a huge job with hundreds of recipes. It becomes impossible when you can't even run the old software to be able to see or print the data.

All this is interesting but not relevant. When Rosetta first disappeared, there were rumours that people had made it work under Lion by installing the Rosetta module. Unfortunately while this is necessary it's not sufficient. There are all the libraries and frameworks that Apple maintained two versions of, one set for Intel, and one set for PPC written in PPC code. It is this latter set which is no longer supplied by Apple, and no third party is going to be able to provide it. -- Tim "That excessive bail ought not to be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted" -- Bill of Rights 1689

You can then install your Rosetta apps there and run them alongside your 10.7 or later system. I only have two apps that require Rosetta - the TWAIN driver for my scanner and Appleworks (I still occasionally use its drawing program.) When Parallels 7 and my 10.6.8 VM died under 10.9, I just made a Snow Leopard partition and reboot to it when I need to use those apps. -- K. Lang may your lum reek.

What scanner is that?
Nikon dropped OS X support for their film scanners with the end of
Rosetta. I use VueScan for mine. I liked the Nikon interface better
than VueScan. OTOH, the Nikon interface also worked better on WinXP
than it does on OS X (esp. when trying to align edges of MF film).

It's about nine years old but it still does what I need. There is an Intel driver available for it, and it does a fine job with black and white scans. But only the original PowerPC TWAIN driver does a decent job of grayscale or colour scanning. > I use VueScan for mine. I liked the Nikon interface better > than VueScan. I tried VueScan and it was awful for my scanner. Clunky, very hard to get colours looking right, and extremely slow to the point of it bein unusable. -- K. Lang may your lum reek.
