BBC Canada were showing truncated versions so they could fit their godawful commercials in. BBC Canada has almost nothing to do with the real Beeb. Anyway, they were cutting like 15 minutes out of each show, the assholes. But of course, I noticed this after the fact, because I was already downloading good hi-res versions as they were broadcast; with the time difference, we could watch an episode in our "prime time" that had been broadcast same day in the UK prime time. -- Where's the Vangelis music? MI-5 was shown on BBCA and was cut *TWENTY* minutes (out of 60). Spooks, for at least the first three series or so was an excellent show. MI-5 was complete and utter unwatchable shit. Perhaps they re-cut it later for PBS, but cutting anything from that show would be a crime. -- 'Is it heroic to die like this?' said Conina. It is however regulated by copyright law. If Bell/Rogers/Shaw own exclusive rights to a program/movie and won't sell it to Netflix at affordable rates, Netflix canot show it in Canada even if it has the rights in the USA for the same programme.

I've tried using my Sony box proxied through a VPN-connected computer, fwiw, and that doesn't work. I can watch Netflix directly through the same computer. I dunno. -- Where's the Vangelis music? Look at the documents of the first and second Bell Astral CRTC hearings and you will find plenty of references to the incumbent hoarding US content to prevent others from getting it. CRTC vertical integration rules kick in only once the media company starts to air a program, and force them to make it available to other BDUs for distribution, however, Netflix is considered a NMBU (New Media broadcasting undertaking) and not covered, so Bell/Shaw/Roger have no obligation to make programming available to Netflix. And the obligation is limited to Media to BDU sales. So Bell Media is forced to make available all its channels to any BDU. However, Bell Media is free to charge whatever it wants for them, and the dispute resolution mechanism is not working well.

Show us the reference asked for. Here is what you said:
QUOTE Some Canadian monopolistic media companies have complained about
Netflix taking no action to prevent Canadians from accessing content for
which the canadian media copany hold exclusive rights for Canada.
ENDQUOTE
So, let's have references, links to those complaints.

I guess it depends on what games you are playing. The Apple TV makes sense if you can use iOS App Store games, while a Mac Mini might make sense for more traditional Mac games (with a better graphics card as you say). I doubt Apple would be trying to take on the Xbox / PlayStation type of "gamer" quality, but aiming more at the casual game player. > It si somewhat ironic that despite the failure of the "Cube", I could > see that form factor returning. A couple of companies already make stackable external boxes for the Mac Mini. The "cube" design itself is almost back in the current Airport boxes, they just don't have the "floating" transparent bottom section.
