#62305 — Printing problem

SubjectPrinting problem
Message-ID<180720141723396857%michelle@michelle.org>
I tried to print to my Epson Artisan 387 printer from my iMac. The
iMac cannot find the printer. The printer is connected via WiFi
through the Airport Extreme router. The printer's diagnostics says
there is no problem with the network connection. My system is
Mavericks 10.9.4.

However, I have no problem printing to the same printer from my iPhone
and from my iPad on the same network. iOS 7.1.2

Any relevant suggestions?

You might try opening /Applications/Utilities/Console, attempting
to print, and watching the console and system logs for any messages
about printing. Feel free to post such messages here if you need help
deciphering them.

If you don't really care what is causing the problem, I'm betting
deleting and adding the printer back into the System Preferences >
Printers & Scanners would be a "brute force" fix.

I'll give that a try.

I'm just glad that I was able to print; they're tickets to tomorrow's
WNBA All Star Game.

And before trying that, I tried printing again, and now it works.
Whatever the problem was, apparently printing from iOS fixed it.

I have an Epson XP-610 which prints from my Mac, iPhone & iPad via
Wi-Fi without issue.
Have you checked System Preferences "Printers & Scanners" to see if it
is Idle or Offline?

Otherwise you might check your user guide for information on printing a
"Network Status Sheet".
User's Guide (Downloadable/Printable Version)

In my user guide there are a bunch of trouble shooting solutions, for example:

I suspect you might have to reinstall and reset your network password etc.

Nothing there addresses the specific problem.

yes, I did. But because the iPad and iPhone can print to it, it's not
off line, and not idle.

Everything else on the network works.
