Any recommendations? I'm > looking at 5770s. I've been running a Radeon 4870 in my Mac Pro for ages and it's been great. These cards love to suck up dust. So you'll want to take it out and clean the dust out every 6-12 months or the fan will get quite noisy and the card will run very hot. I bought mine for ~$350 back in 2009. They've come way down in price since then. Looks like you can grab one for $160 or so right now on Amazon: <http://www.amazon.com/ATI-Radeon-Graphics-Upgrade-Apple/dp/B007O1LQ1A> You can probably find it for less elsewhere if you look around. It's currently driving my Apple 27-inch LED Cinema Display at 2560 x 1440 without issue. I play 3D games quite a bit with it. It's a good, solid card. > Pisses me off that Apple don't support this stuff. I don't mind buying > a new video card, but I'm not buying a new Mac Pro looks like a coffee > grinder. I might buy a new Mac Pro if I were in the market. My 2008 Mac Pro still has lots of life left in it though. It's a beast. I'll try to get a few more years out of it before I think of selling it for something newer. -- E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my ravenous SPAM filter.
