That's interesting.

What output do you get when you enter this command in a terminal
window?:

ifconfig en0

Here's what I get on my MacBook Pro (MAC address obscured by *):

en0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
	options=10b<RXCSUM,TXCSUM,VLAN_HWTAGGING,AV>
	ether **:**:**:**:**:**
	nd6 options=1<PERFORMNUD>
	media: autoselect (none)
	status: inactive

You might try going into System Preferences > Network, selecting the
Ethernet interface on the left side, clicking the [-] button on the
bottom to remove it, then click the [+] button to add back the Ethernet
interface. Then configure it as you would normally, and try the test
again to see if anything has changed.

I suppose the other thing to check is the MTU size on the router itself,
or any Ethernet setting that might affect packet size.

Have you tried simply resetting the router to see if the problem
vanishes after the restart?

Just throwing out ideas as they hit me, in no particular order... ; )

Okay, so we've ruled out user-specific settings.

I suppose it would be worth the time to run Repair Permissions then, and
then run the test again to see if things improve after the repair.
