Thank you for that profound explanation of iTunes. I had no idea what iTunes, iPod, Mac, iTunes store, iPhone, iPad, iOS--goodness gracious, is their more?--meant. Now that you have kindly explained to me what these things are, I think that I shall call the way in which these mysterious things interact, "iTunes" or, if I'm feeling particularly wordy, the "iTunes system." This parallels the way I refer to my car as "my car," and do not refer to the way that the engine, transmission, steering, suspension, and what-not work together, as my "car ecosystem." > If we take your definition of ecosystem and replace biological terms with > more neutral ones ones, we have "a community of interacting elements and > their physical environment." O, so now it's holistic, to boot! The holistic iTunes ecosystem. My, but that is a pompous exposition. You have also described my car, my TV, and my camera and its accessories. But I still call them what they are. It's not my Toyota ecosystem, my Sony ecosystem, or my Canon ecosystem. Just car, TV, and camera. Ditto iTunes, computer, and file server. I'll just have to make do with that. -- I agree with almost everything that you have said and almost everything that you will say in your entire life. usenet *at* davidillig dawt cawm
