Few cars have mounting points for roof-racks, extra front lights, etc.,
but that doesn't stop some people adding these things.

Some cars actually do have a place for a front plate, although it has
become rare these days. Even if there's no actual inset moulded into
the bumper, there will be mounting points underneath the bumper because
many countries do require front plates on cars / buses / vans / trucks.

In some places it is legal to have a sticker / decal version on the
front instead of an actual plate.

You shouldn't be touching another parked car with any part of your car
anyway.

I've got plastic surrounds on my car's licence plates. You can buy them
from "any good car parts store", but mine were free from the dealer /
workshop (with their small logo on them of course). The first pair
broke after years in the weather, so they gave me a new pair.
